Thanks, coolcanuck....often wondered what the Canadians and Brits thought of July 4th/Independence Day here in the US....even though we've been friends and allies, always wondered if this day was a bit tough to take....

Can't speak for the Brits but I think we Canadians do admire your national spirit. Your proud of your country and just want everyone to know it.
We actually should take a lesson and be more vocal about how we feel about ours. We just celebrated July 1st here, that is our national holiday. Lots of fireworks, bands and parades, good BBQ's and family gatherings took place.
Have lots of fun with your grandson.....they sure do grow up quickly.

I never knew when or if Canada celebrated a "national holiday"....you should indeed "toot your horn" a bit more....certainly I've enjoyed the few quick trips to Canada that I've been able to make.....someday hope to make a longer trip when I retire (if I get to retire, lol)....you are so right about how fast the grands grow up....grab each moment when we can!! We celebrate with family as "uncle" my bro-in-law hada birthday the last day of June. Kids are trying to fidure out the fireworks, aunts are fixing salads & men are smoking ribs, tenderloins, hotdogs 4 kids. My parents were from Canada, but my family always celebrated the 4th, not 1st. They never became Americans, I had dual citizenship until I turned 18, but decided to be American not Canuk, sure am glad or I may not have met my wonderful husband! Happy 4th!!!

I don't know if any of you listened to the concert in Boston. The Boston Pops Orchestra as always was wonderful and the fireworks display was out of this world, so beautiful.
Hope you all had a great 4th and now its back to reality starting Monday morning for many of you, but the pleasant memories, we bring forward into the new week.
