Is this the change you wanted?

Coming up on six months now and I'm beginning to wonder if all you folks who voted for change are satisfied with...

The government take over of the banks
The government take over of GM
Cap and trade...pushed through without them getting a chance to really read it
The ever increasing unemployment numbers

We waited for two years for Congress to do something, now they are, but they aren't studying the bills they pass before they pass them

I haven't seen much in the form of stimulus, have you?

just for the record.....I can't stand fighting.... used to be better at it but now it just turns my stomach....too much of it in some of my other groups.....I am not looking for it here....but I might have seemed like it...sorry all....I will speak my say without the put downs or at least I will try.....I probably won't be speaking much, not because I do not have things to say but I have a lot of health issues now...since a surgery that went wrong and now I am left with issues that, all too often make me grumpy.....

I'm sorry Pamela. I hate that you have health issues, they are never fun to deal with. I have a tendency to get a tad ;o) grumpy myself!!

Everyone is free to voice their opinion here that does not mean everyone will agree with it. I feel no ill will towards anyone I disagree with. (Well except maybe Pluto sometimes) We all have different ways of seeing things and I like to hear how others see issues and I like to counter their opinion when it does not agree with mine. That's what it's like in a mixed group like we have here. I can say things in conservative groups and all I will get is high fives!! I like the diversity of opinions we get in here.

Pluto, old buddy, tell me how things have gotten better, not worse. I really want to hear some good news for a change. I know the Republicans were guilty of malfeasance, but the doesn't mean that the current administration has to make things worse, does it? I'm a democrat, I've said that before, but I'm leaning more and more away from the current democratic party because I think it has gone too far. Too much government is not a good thing, in my opinion, and the "too much government" that I've seen in the past couple of months has put us in such a bind that we almost HAVE to follow the leader -- what a devious plan! I'm about ready to give in and stand in the soup line.

OldMike, I never went into this expecting miracles, the conservatives are the ones who call Obama the Messiah, not me. We're just slightly over 5 months into his term, and we were in a downward spiral when he took over. Drastic times call for drastic measures, and we , none of us, should expect a situation that was years in the making to be healed over night. True, I'm not overly happy about all the spending, but I don't feel like I've lost freedoms and that we're heading into a totalitarian state. The man is bound to make mistakes, but I don't see the gloom and doom that other, more conservative thinkers do. And one major issue that a lot of people seem to overlook, is that Congress, the whole lot of them, have their own agenda.

Take the health care plan for instance. Obama had a plan that was doable, but the Representatives on both sides of the aisle have taken it apart and what we will most likely end up with will be something that benefits the insurance companies to the detriment of all of us, but it will still be Obama's fault, as well it should be, because he's the current Captain of the ship.

Cat , I am not an Obama apologist , but I think it completely defies logic and ignores the truth when you say that BO did not inherit a financial mess and that we were in fine shape when he took over . As for the "feeling safer" and security issues , that whole mindset is just delusional thinking that was spread by the Bushcheney cabal .Having said that , I think that BO's " economic stimulus" is a total boondoggle and a waste of our money which is only going to make a very bad situation worse .

I am perfectly satisfied with my insurance, and nobody says that a government plan is going to be any cheaper (more taxes to support it) or better than the insurance I already have. People seem to forget what insurance is supposed to be about, and to me that does not mean running to the doctor for every little sniffle (thank you, managed care). I definitely got my value last year, but would have been happier if I didn't have to use it. The insurance companies help keep the health care costs down for their customers. If it weren't for insurance, my out-patient gall bladder surgery last year would have cost me over $15k. Even with the insurance negotiated prices is was still around $10k, but with deductibles I still ended up under my maximum out of pocket for the year.

Ain't nothing like free markets, and this president is trying to take that away any way he can. He has only scratched the surface of what he wants to do.

The financial mess we are in NOW has little to do with what happened before. Yes we were on a downward spiral but what Obama has done, under the pretense of correcting it, has done far more damage than Bush ever dreamed of doing. The market has corrected itself many times over the years. We had a downward spiral in the eighties that corrected itself in short order. What Obama has done is use this crisis to push through his agenda for a vision of an AMERICA we have yet to comprehend.
