Sarah Palin resigning her postition of Governor

Palin will resign her position as Governor of Alaska as of July 26th. Speculation is that she may be quitting to start her bid for the presidency in 2012. I think it may be a little early for that to happen so what's up I wonder?

Odd that she would walk away from her state when the economy is tanking and her polls are the lowest they've ever been. Not the kind of Captain I'd like to have at the helm during a storm.

I think it's just odd that she'd leave before her term is up. That doesn't speak too well for anyone to just up and leave a job like that. I can't blame the "economy tanking" on her as it is everywhere else as well and we know who to thank for that. I agree with you cat, that it's a bit too early to worry about the 2012 election. I hope that's not the reason.

I know the economy isn't her fault, but you'd think that this particular point in time is when the people of Alaska need strong leadership, and they're not getting it.

Maybe she wants some time with her family before they all grow up. Why don't we just wait until there is more information rather than speculating.

She sure has taken a beating over the past year and it just keeps coming her way even when she is trying to just lay low and do her job. I wouldn't blame her for quitting and trying to regroup her family at this time. I think the insanity that Letterman brought on to her and her family may have made her mind up for her. You can only put your family through so much. If the dialog and it's ramifications had been on her alone that would have been different, but the ugliness was spilling over big time to her family. Something that few politicians have had to contend with at that level. All in all she is a good person and that scared the h*ll out of those to whom being a good person is anomaly in life.

Until last week, Mark Sanford was a good person, we'll see.

Here is her latest Twitter: AKGovSarahPalin "We'll soon attach info on decision to not seek re-election... this is in Alaska's best interest, my family's happy... it is good, stay tuned."

If she says "it is good", then I accept that and wait to hear more. She has had 13+ indictments thrown at her over the last couple of years...all dismissed. If she wants to release herself of the responsibilities of Governing Alaska right now and concentrate on other things...then she's done the right thing. She obviously has confidence in her Lt. Gov. She has been good for Alaska. I don't believe their particular economy is doing too badly.

She's too conservative for the current GOP mindset. She was too good for McCain. Maybe she'll start a new, REAL, conservative, independent Party. That would be pretty appropriate for this Independence Day weekend.

Here's a link to the response from the Lt. Gov. I wish our Gov. had these goals. Instead we have a GOP game-player who took Washington's money and all it's strings.

Jatfla I hope you are right. We need a REAL conservative party to come forward and not this sham of a party that has been left after the election. The party is closer to being liberal than conservative right now.

And Pluto actually up until last week Sanford had not been a "good" person that is just when the public found out that he wasn't.
