Sarah Palen Steps Down

It's a sad, sad day for Democrats today. Sarah Palin has stepped down as governor of Alaska and announced her intention to get out of politics. I was so hoping that she would be on the 2012 Presidential ticket for the GOP.

I'm willing to bet that she will make an announcement shortly that she has been offered a lot of money to be a spokesperson/lobbyist for some half-witted company/industry. I can hardly wait.

Well, one thing at least was right on in the media coverage, at least from Fox.....the other networks had nothing to say on this point.....oh, what was predicted?

Liberals take yet another chance to attack.....ho hum.....and this is different because.....? Oh yeah, same ol, same ol.....OK, not quite a quote, more an interpretive paraphrase of the conservative commentators.....

Now, having said that, there are those in the group who I note are absent from the attacks and are of a more liberal mindset than myself, and let me say I do appreciate the restraint.....it says volumes about character.....

Look, does not matter if you like her or don't or if you agree with her or don't.....she made a decision.....she is not the kind to run from something, and the circumstances suggest something catastrophic to her.....give her a little room.....

But maybe now some of the truths will also come out.....oh, not the garbage that the View does.....but her actual knowledge and accomplishments.....and maybe without attacks from some like Letterman.....

But we shall see.....

She proved she didn't have the knowledge to be a Veep during her interviews with Charles Gibson, Katie Couric and others. She wasn't properly vetted.

I think there's more to this story then is being told because as much as she wanted to be in national politics. Why did she just commit political suicide?

I don't hate her. I dislike her. I can't work up enough passion to hate her. She's simply not that important in my life.

Words to that affect were used to open or reply to a lot of posts today. Yet many here go on and on about Palin. There have been a lot of words written about someone who means so little. She's dumb, she's a bad mother, she's inarticulate, she's power hungry and will do anything to get the job, she's politically tough and ruthless, she's politically naive. 11 pages on her in a recent magazine article. Is it her stance on abortion? Is the 12 point lead cut to 4.5 in the polls during the election 48 hours after her nomination and acceptance speech? What about her causes such fear, paranoia and hate from liberals?

Liberals are tolerant of differing lifestyles and differing opinions but they loathe ignorance, especially willful ignorance. As a good friend of mine has stated recently right here own Eons, it's a very sad thing when people self-censor what they will read, study or listen to other than that which agrees with their fiercely held points of view.

I guess that means she must be ignorant. I guess that means there are no ignorant liberals, at least not willfully. I doubt Palin is ignorant, she certainly accomplished more than anyone here has. Maybe it's because she didn't attend the right schools. No...wait, that wouldn't make her ignorant. Would it?

You may find this hard to believe but most liberals are hard working people who want people to have adequate food, clothing and housing.
Aren't we all? What's the point in a Sarah Palin post?

They want politicians to be held accountable for their actions and they want less governmental (and religious) control in their lives.
You bet. This one demonstrates just how disingenuous, hypocritical and hateful many here are about Palin.

The election has been over for nearly 8 months, and it continues on about Palin. There are liberals in the House, Senate and White House. They won. Why the obsession?

And the hate comes from what side?

Frankly, any politician who resigns from office because they don't want to be a lame duck or can't handle the heat doesn't deserve to be elected to another office. Any office, much less the presidency.

As far as a governor resigning, IMO the wrong Republican governor resigned.

And HE says he's not going anywhere, but I have it on good authority that he is, whether he likes it or not.

He does South Carolina no good if he stays and fights. If the guy truly believes in his state and country he'll make it easier on everyone.

As a Demo who voted for Obama....what I'm about to say hurts, and I'm going to gargle my mouth when I'm finished and sanatize my fingers when finished....lol...But I agree with Fly...this could be the beginning of her run for 2012. Palin is smarter than many Demos think. She is now free of the Repub machine. She can go it alone her way...with her supporters. And once her book is published, she'll be making many many speaking engagements in the midwest and south. The Demos better not underestimate her. It's the Repubs who messed up during the campaign in using her. She wasn't properly prepared and the McCain people didn't respect her. And I have to admit, those comments by David Letterman didn't help the Demos. She should not be ignored. I'm not crazy about her, but I thought this was a smart move. And...some may disagree...her and Obama are similar in many way, even though they are on different ends of the spectrum. Both come from working class families. Both are rather new to politics. Both have different styles from previous politicians. She'll be going after the female and independent voters. If the economy doesn't turn around during Obama's term, the Demos are in trouble. Right now there's no Repub to lead the party...they are divided in many way and many are having problems keeping their pants on...lol. But those midwestern states will be watching and listening. And the Demos better not underestimate her. They should stop the negative criticism....but keep an eye on her. Listen to what she's saying. When she said 'politics not as usual'...she's not the usual politican. She didn't want to play the McCain game or the Repubs game. Like those who voted for Obama and wanted a fresh voice....many find Palin a fresh voice too. So I say to the Demos and liberals.....don't underestimate her..................Spit spit spit spit.....damn that was nasty...where' my Listerine..........

"She didn't want to play the McCain game or the Repubs game."

While I agree with you that she is much smarter than most give her credit for I've got to disagree with you on the above. She played the typical Republican games during the campaign, doing her best to cast Obama as an Islamic terrorist. A mud slinger like every other politician Republican or Democrat.

My favorite quote on the governors situations is from the NY Times columnist Gail Collins, who also had a humorous piece on the SC governor when that news story broke. I may not agree with her opinions, but I do love her humor. view link

"People, what is going on with governors in this country? Are we doomed to see them go bonkers one by one, state by state?"

Sarah Palin... The Left will always vilify her as she does not believe in the wholesale slaughter of children. She will ignore them, and rightly so.

She is playing up to the GOP base as they are the main voters in the 2012 primaries. They are the only ones who count at this stage.

Do not underestimate her. With the right campaign manager, she can go far.
