Finally, a Painted Bunting

Today I finally saw one of these beautiful little birds here.

How Beautiful!! The Painted Bunting is my favorite must see bird. Unfortunately I live a long way but hope to combine a birding trip in Texas with a visit to Fossil Rim and Best Friends. The colors are so perfect and delineated ,they look almost artificial. Kind of like the Wood Duck.
Thanks for the lovely picture.

I got to see these beauties, the male & the female, at my aunt's on St. Helena's Island outside Beaufort, SC. They are lovely as is your photo. Thanks for sharing, it brings back pleasant memories.

Yea for Painted Buntings. We have three pair that arrive in April and leave in Sept. I am so priviledged to get to watch them. They are avarious eaters. We live on a creek and that is the drawing card for them. Most people here in Central Texas have never seen them. I might be able to sell tickets as their are very scarce.

vintagelady,

I don't believe I have seen a bunting of any variety. To see the top-of-the-line photographed by a real person is marvelous!
Thanks for sharing!
