Doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Each time I informed them that I was not receiving any water bills and they would check and tell me that the bills were being mailed to the property . Each time I would tell them that my official address for notifications was my home address , because the tenants would just throw away any mail for me that arrived at the apartment house . So I would then give the person at the water department my CORRECT address for mailing the bills , and ask them what the amount owed was . I would then write out a check for the amount owed and enclose a note asking them to change the mailing address and give them the address again as a follow-up to the phone call . This process was repeated like clockwork every 6 months FOR TWENTY YEARS . Five years ago , I sold the building .They have continued to call me every 6 months to tell me that I am late paying my water bill . I now tell them every 6 months that I sold the property years ago . Yesterday , they called again and told me that they were going file a lien against the property if I didn't pay the water bill . I told them to go ahead and file it . I will probably end up in court over this at some point .

Send 'em a copy of the closing statement and to blow off...LMAO
Sounds like they are slow learners. It only takes one time of me showing up in a government office to get simple things like an address changed. Mainly because I refuse to leave until the clerk enters the information properly while I watch.
Now the lazy a$$ surveyor in the county where the farm is located is an entirely different story. I may have to run for office against him in a year or so.
Lolly , you obviously have never had to deal with NYC civil servants .

Maybe it's all those jobs they had to cut in order to be fiscally conservative in spending. Departments operating with less staff forcing " those lazy people " to take on more responsibility. Just my opinion.
No, I never have made it to NYC. I suppose that they could breed them meaner, tougher, and/or dumber in the Big Apple.
But I don't take any BS. Phone conversations wind up being unsatisfactory because you can't see that your wishes are being carried out. Walking in for some face to face interaction usually gets me what I want.
There is the fact that I don't look like a sweet little old lady. More like I'd take your arm off at the shoulder and beat you with it.
Right Charles , just keep playing your " More government is better " song .Government in New York costs us more than $ 12,000 per year for every man woman and child in the state . That is some real fiscal conservativeness and responsibility isn't it ! And I am sure that you also think that not changing a billing address for 25 years is evidence of a real bunch of sharp go-getters at work .

Hurrah! Finally got action!
I called the County Surveyor's office early in April to report a log jam in the ditch that runs through my property. Last year the Surveyor authorized ditch cleaning that cost me several dozen mature hard wood trees. So this year, the flow brought everything downstream where much of it was piled up at the bridge on my south property line.
The last Friday in June I had to go to the County Court House and pay property taxes. I stopped in to the Surveyor's office while I was there to see what was being done about the log jam. The Surveyor was out, and I was as kind as I could be to the clerk, but I made it clear that I had reported the problem more than two months previously and expected action.
This morning we were getting things ready to head back into town for a day or so, when I heard a racket along the road. Walking up that way brought a wonderful sight. A full size backhoe was making it's way down to the south bridge to clear the mess away. Only six working days after my personal visit!!
they probably have soo damn many people in the department that they can't decide just who should be doing it.
