4th OF JULY'isms
Know any good ones?I know a few ...Like a blackberry pie By the 4th of
July,that tells when to pick blackberries. And in the case of corn crops
Knee high by the 4th of July,corn should be this high if planted by the right time
but in Ky this year the cornfields are head high of a really tall person due to all the rain.
My personal favorite that i will never forget was a Robertism,my dearly beloved
first husband and father of my 4 girls....actually he had two for us,one for me and one for the girls but practally worded the same. And believe me we never doubted
the sincerety of those immortal words,because on more than a few occasions he
did just what he said he could do. He used to tell me or them whichever may
have crossed his wires on a particular day" DONT MAKE ME LIGHT YOU UP
LIKE THE FOURTH OF JULY" Cute huh? we didnt think so....for the girls it was
usually the buttocks that got lit up while mamma dear had some most colorful
ribs,back and upper leg areas of and on occasion a few thumb and finger
shaped stars on her arms all pretty in dark blue that faded to purple and black..
On this bithday of our country as i watch the red ,white and blue wave proudly
and sing the praises of our countries freedom,i will remember the flag that i once wore on my body,cloaked and hidden not for public view and remember once again
that freedom is not free and often times comes with a heavy price.
I am FREE,i am Strong and i am Happy....might even make me a blackberry pie
to celebrate the 4th of July....yum ,yum,freedom tastes so sweet dont ya think?
