So What Did You Watch This Weekend?

Every now and then you just have to dig out and revisit one of the ultimate classics.

So what did/will you watch this weekend?

Actually since yesterday was a paid holiday and instead of trying to work overtime (which would have added another $400 or so to the paycheck if and when I would finally get paid) the last time I did work overtime was June 2nd. Three paychecks later I am still trying to get paid for my overtime and shift differential for two of the last three weeks now that I am talking about nearly $1,000 being shorted for June alone.

On the 4th I slept nearly 20 hours for I knew I was getting very tired because on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I slept 2, 4, 3 hours each day respectively. Anyway I'll see what will happen for my weekend coming up tomorrow.

I found another short-lived series on the Chiller network that I never knew existed. It's called All Souls. There was a marathon. Chiller loves the marathons. I love Chiller. Pony? You really ought to start a letter-writing campaign to get you cable company to carry it. I can't find a single website that does All Souls justice, so here goes....

It first aired in 2001, and it's about a haunted hospital where there are a lot of strange things happening. There's a kindly old black nurse who keeps reappearing to the young doctor just when he needs help or needs support the most; an orderly who shows up to guide the doctor to areas of the hospital where things are happening that really shouldn't be happening ("Lazarus"), and the head of the hospital that you rarely see, well you do see him in flashbacks to the Civil War dropping live rats into the insides of screaming soldiers to see what happens. As you can tell, he's gone quite insane and has decided to do little experiments on the patients at All Souls. The experiments never stop. When the young doctor is ready to give up and accept a post at the Mayo Clinic because of the deeply disturbing things going on at the hospital, the sweet old nurse (I still haven't figured out if she's real or another ghost) shows him a Civil War era picture of the hospital and its staff. The young doctor is in the picture, as is the head of the hospital. She says, "We've been waiting for you a very long time...."

The only movie I watched was when I took my son, Jeremy, to see Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen on saturday night. It is long at 2 hrs and 45 mins. But they did do a good job. I was impressed by the special effects and the CGI. The problem I have with movies like this is it is more based on effects than characterizations, even the plot suffers. But my son loved it! He has loved Transformers since he was a child. And according to Jeremy, there is a new character that is separate from the Transformer mythos, The Fallen. So I guess from his point-of-view, this was really interesting. But I have to admit that I did enjoy it, although I will buy the movie for him and not for myself. On the other hand, Star Trek is for moi! :)

I didn't expect to like the first Transformers movie, but the nonstop effects and slam-bang battles grabbed me and held me throughout. So I have high hopes for the sequel (but 2 hrs and 45 minutes? I think I'll wait until I have a copy of it I can pause!)

Medoosha, thanks for the tip about "All Souls." The Syfy Channel also shows it occasionally.

I am going to watch Warehouse 13 tonight on the Syssy-Fried, now it will be going by a new name starting today. But looking at the schedule, looks like the only thyng changed was WWPuke fantasies to Thursday nights.

Guess it could be worse they could have it five to seven nights a week.

Maybe we better not give them any ideas! :-) I'm going to watch Warehouse 13 too, though it sounds suspiciously like another defunct show, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

I just watched Warehouse 13. It reminded me a lot of the "Librarian" movies with Bob Newhart, Noah Wylie, and Jane Curtin. I'm pretty sure Bob Newhart was supposed to be God and he would send Noah Wylie out to get various items - spears, and chalices and such things as that, to bring back to the library. The library was endless, much like Warehouse 13. Is that the show you were thinking of, pony?

No. The one I was thinking of was in reruns on syfy within the last couple of years, about a hidden squad of the police department that deals with supernatural creatures but conceals their work from the public.

And of course I totally forgot about Warehouse 13 tonight! Maybe I'll catch episode two.

Ahhhh, that would be Special Unit 2. It's on Chiller too, hence I have my DVR set to record it, although I watched a marathon of it a few weeks ago. It's another one I'd never heard of until I found Chiller...
