What are you doing on the 4th?

I will be dragging the smoker out and making some beef jerky while the briskets are on sale. Maybe i ought to mix up a big pitcher of mojitos to drink while i do it. It's supposed to get in the 100's again. Anyone know of a good artic tale to read to keep cool?

Don't forget Jodi Picoult's novel The Tenth Circle; the trip to the Alaskan village sent me running for a blanket.

Barb, losing a parent is always difficult; we think they will always be there, and then they're gone. I lost my dad in June 2000 and my mom in July 2006. All of a sudden, I was the oldest member of my family, yet felt like an orphan. The love and care of family and friends is what gets us through these losses. Take care.

I'm late replying to this message because I've been having too much fun in Breckenridge, CO this 4th of July week to peruse my email! On the holiday itself, I had a terrific book signing at Weber's Books & Drawings after watching the parade and dining on gourmet cupcakes & wine for a charity fundraiser. Then it was home for ribs, corn on the cob & flag cake and back out to watch the evening fireworks show. What a great 4th of July!
