11,000-year-old granary

Early granary near Dead Sea. Built and used by semi-sedentary, semi-nomadic peoples.

What I find amazing is that we have developed in a scant 10 000 years or so into such resource hoarding creatures we are. Think about that one for a minute.

The rise of civilization is directly linked to man's ability to produce and store excess quantities of food .

I love this term semi-sedentary, semi-nomadic peoples since it was brfore domestication of agriculture to a point of storage and allowing dor a division of labor I eonder if the purpodse of these graneries might be similar to an oasis but for grain, the clan travels a bit does its business whatever it might have been returns knowing there was food?

That makes sense Yichel . They harvest and store in that place , then move on to fresh grazing for the herds . The next year they come back , plant the fields again and have the stored grain to live on until the new crop is harvested .
