God works in mysterious ways!
(Or) The history of "Seek Him First"
I was scrolling thru the messages posted by DesertStar53 this morning and realized that I wanted to comment on all of them. They are full of God's amazing truths and blessings. Instead I will go back a couple of years and give you the background of how this group began!
In June or July of 2007 I joined Eons with the screen name of cricket48 and posted something and attached the little blue sky picture to it. Then I got very busy at work and was not on line very much. A couple of weeks later, I got back on line and someone, I don't even remember who, had taken my little picture and the title of the post, "Seek Him First" and started a group. I got very upset and closed my account. Eventually, I missed some of the people I had interacted with, and came back with my current screen name in August of 2007, and started posting in the group this person had started. By then, this person had abandoned the group. It had very few members.
A friend in the group urged me to become the manager and get things going. After a lot of prayer and thought I did. I wanted to establish the site for devotionals, because after all, that is what had inspired my original post. Every morning, I would add a little bit more to it; my close friends joined and it eventually got to be what I had hoped it would be.
SEEK HIM FIRST means just that. My prayer was exactly that..to seek and commune with God before doing anything else. By Christmas of that year, I was getting very busy with family issues, and work and I thought about closing the group but I realized something~~~~It was worth working the group even if only one person received a blessing from it daily. ~~ We had people come and go as in all groups but the group really never got very large...and in April of 2008, I got very ill and my computer also crashed..it seemed as though Satan was after me. My mother passed away and I had to retire for health reasons. Things looked bleak and I was having more computer problems. It seemed as though only a very few people posted or even commented.
While I was immobolized, my very good friend kept helping me with the posts and eventually it became a strictly devotional site. I thanked God for his help but his time was also limited due to other responsibilities. I started praying about the group. My computer was not up to snuff and I could not afford to get a new one and do the necessary postings~~couldn't even manage the banner, I was going to close the group~~ after much prayer instead of notifying the members of the closing, I posted a request for a New Manager. That is when DesertStar came on the sceen. She was looking for a Group and God had led her to me. It took a couple of weeks to sort thru the changes and Desert was so very patient. What a blessing she is!
She promised me that she would keep the integrity of the group true to its original purpose; praise and worship. That she and Dutch have been able to increase membership and enhance the posts is truly a blessing from God. If only one person gets blessed each day, it will have been worth the work. And believe me, it is a responsibility that weighs heavily on both Desert and Dutch. Please give them your support and prayers. This is a very special couple and this is a very special group.~~ Let's Seek Him First in all things~~We will reap the rewards!!
