Hi All!, Red Satin did well for my first time out (I did not think there was an audience for such writing), I have since pulled it, revised it, re-named it Red Satin Sheets (Very Adult Material) and will re-release it with my second full novel in September "Found" is a little tamer but still for the reader of adult erotica. "Found" is a story I started over five years ago and with so much encouragement from fellow writers is near done. The third book, "The LeftOver" will hit the shelves in January 2010. I wish you all huge success and a steady flow of ink. Gloria Siler Sr.
I just received the ARCS (advanced reading copies) of my new novel, Dead Air which is the first in a series starring Sammy Greene, a 20 something 5 foot tall New York bred red head with her own radio talk show. The official release is December and I am busy setting up book signings in California and Florida. I also finished another draft of book #2 in the series called Devil Air. That will be out a year after Dead Air. The publisher wants me to cut it down another few thousand words. Rabbit in the Moon, my current international thriller won a fourth award- the Silver medal for Mystery Book of the Year! It's brought lots of publicity (and hopefully more sales since the money from thsi book goes entirely to a medical charity). I am also writing a health column for an online newspaper. That's why I have not spent much time on EONS lately!
I'm glad you're interested. I don't have time to write another book because I'm so busy pushing the ones that I have on the market — From Thunder To Breakfast, Widowhood Happens and There's Something About Cave Creek (It's The People). It surprises me, since I have more than 2600 hits on my profile, that I don't sell more books. Honestly, they are pleasant, fun reads. See details on amazon.com and Kindle. I had an Internet interview about From Thunder to Breakfast, but it will probably be more than a month before it is broadcast. I'll let you know, I promise.
I now am a member of a writers' salon that meets at the Well Red Coyote bookstore in Sedona, Arizona on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. We read our own work for criticism if we want it, and write ten-minute assignments on the spot. I enjoy it. I like being in the company of creative people. And, speaking of creative people, I have an abstract painting in an art show at the Sedona Arts Center that runs for a month. Went to a poetry reading today at the Poet's Corner. Gene K. Garrison
I've been busy with work but still try to find the time to write. I'll have my fourth novel published in October, a murder/mystery entitled, "A Confidential Man." After it is released, I'll begin work on another novel. I started one draft a couple months ago but it stalled. I may have to go back to it and see if I can get moving with it. I'm also interested in writing short stories and may even delve back into writing bad poetry.
Nowadays, I work in marketing for a publisher and freelance on the side as editor and consultant to other publishers and authors. We don't seem to have the time to worry about getting our own books published, though we still write daily, or edit, sometimes both. We have 33 books of our in some state of completion, though I wouldn't say any of them have had their final edit yet. I have lots of info available for those going their own way, or trying to get published. my fees are reasonable, tell me you're from eons, I might give you some free help, if it's not something that's going to be a big project. tootall1121@yahoo.com
Lady Gene, I don't know about your books, but with one I'm working with, we've found that it just doesn't sell from websites and the like. Places where the people can actually see and feel the book, it flies off the shelves. At my direction, the author carries a copy with her everywhere, out where people can see it. she sold four on the plane ride from CA to NY for a number of speaking engagements. The reason she only sold four is that's all she had inside the plane with her. Did likewise on the return flight. Her website gets thousands of hits, but few sales. Oh, if you need better distribution, let me know. I've researched wholesalers and distributors. For a small fee, I can clue you in. Maybe the fee will be waived if you ask right at the right time. tootall1121@yahoo.com
Our mystery, Murder... They Wrote will be published in August by Whiskey Creek Press. Drop by our site to preview the cover and read about the book. Lorna's anthologies just keep coming. Seasons of Love was published in February 2009. The next one, Directions of Love, is scheduled for February 2010. And we're working on two more! Together, we are planning at least two sequels to Murder... They Wrote. Larry is also working on a new book called Lakeview Park, a group of slice-of-life short stories. Lorna is still trying to finish her romance novel, Angel's Prayer.
Wow...what a talented group this is. My last book was out in April, and I have another, "The Promise He Made" to be released August 11th. I have a couple of booksignings coming up, one with 3 other AZ authors in which each of us will be giving a ten minute talk about our genre. I'm also speaking to a writer's group in Prescott in late September and will be doing a one-day workshop with my Bootcamp partner in October. So, the next few months are going to be busy. In the meantime, I'm trying to put together another proposal for a 3 book series (romance) and also writing a single title thriller. I've been teaching novel writing at the Bootcamp for Novelists Online, but will have the month of July off, thank heaven. We resume in August with classes, so I need to get as much done in July as I can. It's really great hearing what everyone is writing. Did anyone ever think writing would be so time intensive? I sure didn't.
Thank you for asking! I'm still busy running around promoting The Fiction Class. Lots of book club and library events, thank heavens. Also, I'm working on my next novel and hope to be done with that soon. One of my stories was selected for Best American Non Required Reading, so I'm happy about that. And I'm teaching two classes for Gotham--an intro to fiction and an advanced fiction. Best of all, I just went to Berlin to visit my son who is doing his junior year abroad there. Happy Fourth to everyone here. I'm going to try to see the Macy's fireworks in Manhattan but I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to face the crowds.
Thank you for contacted me again! Hope all is well with you!
