The Value of Poetry

The Value of Poetry

Let’s say you’re getting old
By that I mean you feel it
as a sentence you’ve long denied
and most of the time
you want to rest
and lose 20lbs but you think
your will power’s never been that good
and you’ve always been a slave to desire
when just then you come across a poem
where a man who had lost weight
still had problems and
how Ebenezer Scrooge
learned Kindness
after a night of terror
and his life changed and
for all the rest of his days
he lived in Joy.

Quite a Lens you have, my friend. Another friend once told me a Miracle is nothing more nor less than a change in perception . . . you prove it here!

geez this is so dead on (npi) nicky . . .

a confusing time . . . denying the facts: "most of the time . . . you want to rest . . . and lose 20lbs but you think" - and that dichotomy right there is difficult to look at . . .

you stop me and turn me around to see where I am . . . actually, it's better than I thought it would be here . . . don't know I can change to joy in all the rest of my days, but there is joy to be had

I'm glad I 'ran across' your poem - well, I don't think I really ever miss one here, but saying that just went with the poem . . .

thank you for giving us this poem. your word way with what's real, your observation and reporting of the nuances in a day, a life, are unique and valuable nicky . . .
