as a former addictions counselor, of the people that I counseled, the one's that had the most problems getting off their drugs were the one's addicted to pain meds...this includes the one's that were addicted to all kinds of street drugs...I now live with chronic pain from my surgery but I will not take pain meds..no way

It can destroy familes just as much as being addicted to meth. There is someone in my extended family that has a serious problem and it hurts to see their kids suffer too because of it.

I think the local female population is actually well above 20% addiction to pain pills like loricet, oxycotin, percosets, etc. I don't know any guys that use them except a couple of cancer patients.

I take the minimum amount of that stuff if I need to after a surgery, and then I usually take half the dose. I really don't tolerate those meds very well. Fortunately, I've never had any situation that has resulted in pain that was so bad I felt I HAD to take something stronger than aspirin.

I know of numerous people who died of pain medication addition which leads to other drugs when they doctor cut them off. Rehab doesn't work unless it's at least 8 mo.s to a yr long and the person willing goes. If they are forced for s short rehab, never works.

I know from experience, seen it and forced to deal with people many times, heartbreaking.
