Hope it was his mommy and daddy that came to his rescue, not the neighborhood cat. He probably didn't know what to do, therefore let you pick him up.

Same thing happened to me one winter. I found what I thought was a baby owl. I fed him raw hamburger and called a wild bird specalist, he said it was an adult screech owl and to let him GO! SO I did.

I hope so too. I worried about him, but he is God's creature so he'll be ok.
What an amazing thing though to get to hold him, things like this hardly ever happen to me.

Humming birds are particularly viscious and extremely territorial. Their energy requirements are such that they eat a lot of mosquitoes and each other if nothig else is around. They are interesting to study and I wish that I could attract them here at home but so far no luck.
