I found my friend still sitting there an hour later so I got out a gage and put him in it. He didn't even try to get away. Then I called my vet's office and they put me in touch with the wild life people.
I'll wait and see what they say to do with him.

I couldn't leave him there to be murdered by a cat, or my dogs so I moved him.

The wild life lady called but they want me to take him to Bloomington because she doesn't care for small birds here.

I would but I don't know if he is going to live and that is a long drive if he doesn't. If he is still alive in the morning I'll call her back. Meanwhile I put sugar water in the cage, and covered it with a towel. He is just sitting in one spot, he hasn't moved although he did drink some water.

I love animals Mrschris, and God gave them to us to look after.

Glad I found your message about your find......this was a noble act of you jeanie and hope the small baby makes it. Aren't they wonderful to watch and flutter those tiny wings. Haven't put out the liquid this year, been doing remodeling that has taken so much effort. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks you two, I just saw this tiny bird and knew he was going to get killed if he sat that low to the ground for very long.
I'm just glad I happen to look his way or I would have walked right past him since it is so tiny.

Since you like birds as I do I want to share an insight that came to me recently about listening to God's beautiful birds singing..........I THOUGHT THEY ARE SINGING TO GOD AND GIVING THEIR PRAISES.......... just as all of us hopefully will someday. Isn't this something?

Up date.

My son came home and was looking at the bird in the cage when another hummingbird buzzed his head. We knew then they were looking for him.
My daughter had gotten on line to get some info on hummingbirds and she came out to say we had to let him out because it is a felony to cage a hummingbird, in fact you can't even have one of their feathers.
She said it also said a steady diet of sugar water will kill them.

We got some pictures of him sitting on the edge of a water bottle cap while I was holding the cap.
He let us hold him on our finger, and that is why I thought he was sick, wild birds just don't do that if they are well.

Anyway we put the bottom of the cage out on the table on the pool deck up high so he could see the other birds and went in the house. After dinner he was gone, but we got some great pictures.
I'll get them posted as soon as my son sends them to me from his phone.
