An odd time for someone to have his particular wounds -- long after the Wars of Scottish Independence, and after the disbanding of the Knights Templar, and long before Bonnie Prince Charlie.

what a life....wow....can we even imagine the pain this person lived with. So young and to have endured so much without modern medicine.
Very good article thanks.

Tough men lived in tough times . Life span was pretty short anyway , and old age must have been awful for those who made it . Very little incentive not to risk dying young .

maybe that is why all the bravado....they knew a death in battle was better than by disease. Of course the recovery from some of the wounds had to be very traumatic. No time for a wuss. To live to old age in good health is always an asset and if not in good health, then not much better today even with all the medicines.
