can't tell you about the god part but the guns are another matter. Nazi germany had some of tightest gun control laws ever but in Israel there's an assult rifle in just about every home. get the connection? ps..bet the laws are pretty tight in Iran too.
Bibles and bullets seem to have been joined at the hip for centuries now. Even before Christianity, most of the earlier religions actually had Gods that were warriors, so there is a definite connection between hostility and religion. I wish I had an answer. I'm not religious, but if I were I would be partial to one that had a commandment against all violence. Period.
if someone has the answer to this one I would love to hear it...

I think the driving force here is the perceived relationship between the Divine Force and the adherent....specifically those adherents who don't have a healthy relationship with fear as well.
Those people seem to appoint themselves as a cleansing force...the righter of wrongs...some form of nobility...or indulge in rationalizations of doing that Divine Force's work.....They pull their accountability from the life equation which is a danger license for pretty much anything to happen. By becoming the voice of their God, the power clouds their minds as well as those who are willing to do what they are told. Their personal needs, desires, wants, etc....all get added to the TO DO list, including those that violate natural, state and federal laws.
Sadly, there are those who don't make the distinction between those with faith who do good things and lead wholesome, meaningful lives and those who indulge themselves with the self-given license of "God said it was cool if I did whatever I wanted".....Ultimately, those people who serve themselves rather than the Divine Good should be separated from the religious...they are just con artists who have used faith to manipulate others instead of some other story line.
I would also add that people define God in a variety of ways...and that the role of the Divine can vary too. I sometimes use Divine Force to more completely describe what people reconcile with when having faith.

Lets put it in the simplest term…You believe in God, you have a Gun so you’re a Patriot, right???
I don't know what answer your looking for, BUT if it weren't for some people believing in GOD - Guns and being a Patriot we wouldn't be in this USA right now.
my explanation is the kind that no one likes to hear
