Collecting Arrowheads And Other Artifacts.........

6/29/09.......ATTENTION CLARIFICATION to all peoples. It is against the law to collect arrowheads/artifacts on Indian Reservations, and Public Lands, and all areas administered by our government entities the DOI, BIA, BLM, USFS, and STATES PARKS. I collect only on PRIVATE LANDS with permission of landowners. Also I donate my collections to Nevada State Museum at Carson City, the University Collections at UNR, and the collections of business owner Moe at the Whigwam in Fernley Nevada as anonymous donations. I believe our history past and present belongs to the people of PLANET EARTH, AND MUST BE PROTECTED AND PRESERVED FOR ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS. Thank you, Erik Johnson/NamVet

...........I agree with you Eric, and believe those of us that are more educated and aware, and inclined towards the scientific discovery and preservation and analysis of all evidences found, to be interested in seeing this things rightly preserved in our museums for future generations to learn from and enjoy the value thereof. But like little 11 year old Mary, who really discovered the first full prehistoric remains of a dinosaur skeletal remains in the white cliffs of Dover, was very much an amatuer, and due credit should be recognized of those who discover things and make their more professional citizens aware of their finds. Everybody can be involved, but it does take making peoples aware of the importance of their discoveries and contacting the professionals; yet also the professionals should never forget the more unenlightened who make the discoveries....
Many of the best discoveries I have made, were partially the result of asking lots of local peoples where I hunted and eventually made those discoveries. Some of my found artifacts are on display in the Nevada State Museum because of this, though I chose to donate them anonymously....

I agree with, Erik. I believe that there should be more of a collaborative relationship between professionals and amateurs. Many times amateurs know a particular area better than the professionals, simply because they spend more time in the field. Many times they find things that the professionals miss in their survey of an area. I know of several instances in which this has happened.
