The closest call was a motorcycle accident in 1985. We were coming down the grade on the Ventura Freeway into Thousand Oaks when the rear tire went and we high-sided at 35 mph. I slid across three lanes of the freeway under the bike. Fortunately it was Sunday morning and the traffic was light and we were not seriously injured--just bruises and road rash (mild). We were both wearing helmets, leather boots and gloves, and jackets--not leather--, but we got off easy.
My closest call was a car accident when I was 16. Seat belts were just out and few people had them but my boyfriend had seat belts in his car and he always insisted that I buckle up. We were hit broadside on my side of the car by a drunk driver who ran a stop sign and spun the car around, with the door opening up and me being pulled outward - saved from being thrown from the car by that seat belt.
Every morning that I wake up I cheat death...
Hey, I could have broken my neck on June 7 when I fell down 12 of 14 steps here in my own home. DJ

Fell on my face out of a top bunk at the age of 5, was in what could have been a bad car accident at the age of 16, my daughter ran over me with the car when I was 27, and thank goodness that is about it. And YouknowWho you are so right.

I won't say I cheated death, but a better term for it is that God healed me. I was in the hospital for surgery for a brain tumor and it was pretty traumatic for me because I had two little boys at home waiting for me to come home and a very sick husband. I prayed one night with all my heart that God would heal me. I prayed and pleaded. I was sobbing uncontrolable when suddenly I felt my feet get really warm then the heat came up my legs and it continued upward through my head. Suddenly I felt as if I had a ton in weight lifted from me. I realized then and there I was healed. I told no one about this and remained in the hospital for 3 days for lots of scans and tests. Finally the neurosurgeon told me on my last day there that there was every sign of a tumor, yet there was nothing there now. He also predficted I would be legally blind within a year caused from the pressure caused by edema of the optic nerve.
I'm nearly 60 now and though I wear glasses (since the fifth grade), I see clearly. The symptoms and signs of a tumor are no longer there, and I thank God for my miracle.
I suffered tremendously at the hands of my ex husband,,,I think that's why I never married again....
He tried to break my neck pushed me into the corner of a closet and beat me senseless...
I was unfortunately pregnant at the time and lost the baby immediately...he left me there to bleed to death...He pulled the phone cords out of the wall and locked me in...I finally escaped 2 hours later...
called the police from a neighbors house...the basturd never went to jail...The judge let him off...he walked away scott free.....I purchased a gun and learned how to use it..scared the crap out of him one night when he tried to break into my house...he actually moved out of the state...
I hate that man! (if you can call that a man)
I was driving on the interstate here in Virginia. It was summer and the roads were packed but everyone was moving along at a very good pace. Probably 75 or 80 and suddenly I heard a bang saw smoke around the back of my truck when I looked in the rearview mirror. I don't recall pulling off the road because I didn't. One second I was looking at the smoke thinking Help Me God and the next second I was parked on the grass just as pretty as you please. It was like the truck was lifted up and set on the grass verge. Traffic never even slowed down! I don't call it lucky - it was God, no doubt!!
