Extemely Tired and Weak

My Mother (age 86) is extremely tired and weak. She has not been very healthy the last couple of years and has been in the hospital and at the emergency room about 8 times in the last 8 weeks. That is enough to make you tired and weak. She had her gallbladder out. She has been in for low fluids. This last week she has had extreme pain running from her groin all the way down her leg. He knee looked swollen. Yesterday I had her at the Immediate Care Center for pain in her right arm. She said it was not heart pain. She has had a heart attack before and knows what that feels like. She said it had been hurting for several weeks but had moved up into her shoulder during the night. She couldn't move her arm. It was extremely painful when she did. They x-rayed her at ICC and said there was nothing broken. It is a little better today. So the problems right now seem to be the extreme tiredness and weakness and pain which I guess may be arthritis. Does anyone have any suggestions for some kind of natural remedies she might try. I will check with her Doctor first. She is also diabetic. She is not overweight. In fact she has lost a lot of weight in the last year and does not really eat enough.

It's called Cellular Energy Deficiency. The mitochondria (power centers) of the cells fail to produce enough energy (ATP), because of nutritional deficiencies primarily related to lifestyles and food production methods. This also creates an acidic metabolism and low oxygen levels within the cells. Providing cellular food in form of bioready nutrients, will help to increase the body's pH (make more alkaline), which will also increase cellular oxygen. The body tends to respond very positively when brought back to homeostasis. Interestingly, this issue affects very young as well - those mystery diseases! There are proprietary products available for precisely these functions, that may be the solution for you.

According to a short online article from Life Extension Foundation... "In a symposium scheduled to take place during the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics 19th World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics held this year from July 5-9 in Paris, four biologists will discuss their understanding of the reasons for the aging process, a phenomenon that has until recently been considered one of life's great mysteries.
The speakers include University of California professor of anatomy Leonard Hayflick, PhD; Robin Holliday, PhD, of the Australian Academy of Science; Steven Austad, PhD, of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and Thomas Kirkwood, PhD, of Newcastle University in England. The scientists, working independently, have written books on the aging process that were published during the 1990s. Each came to the conclusion that "aging is no longer an unsolved problem," which is the title of the upcoming presentation.

“Aging occurs because the complex biological molecules of which we are all composed become dysfunctional over time as the energy necessary to keep them structurally sound diminishes," Dr Hayflick explained. "Thus, our molecules must be repaired or replaced frequently by our own extensive repair systems."

“These repair systems, which are also composed of complex molecules, eventually suffer the same molecular dysfunction. The time when the balance shifts in favor of the accumulation of dysfunctional molecules is determined by natural selection — and leads to the manifestation of age changes that we recognize are characteristic of an old person or animal. It must occur after both reach reproductive maturity, otherwise the species would vanish.”

“These fundamental molecular dysfunctional events lead to an increase in vulnerability to age-associated disease,” he added. “Therefore, the study, and even the resolution of age-associated diseases, will tell us little about the fundamental processes of aging.”

Nutrition supplementation IS the key here.

Lynette wrote "The mitochondria (power centers) of the cells fail to produce enough energy (ATP), because of nutritional deficiencies primarily related to lifestyles and food production methods."

She hit the nail right on the head with that statement. Of course we ALL hear about how bad the American diet is, how it is nutritionally deficient and how we need to change it. That is true. There is a slight problem however with getting all we need from the 4 food groups. She mentioned food production methods. It is true that the food production methods have reduced the nutrition content of food but there is a larger problem than the way we process the food. The food itself, even organically grown food does not contain the minerals it once did.

US Senate document 264 is from the 74th Congress, second session, and it says that our farm soils and our range soils are depleted of minerals. And the crops, the grains, and the fruits, and the vegetables and the nuts that are grown on these depleted farm and range soils are minerally deficient, therefore the people who eat them get mineral deficiency diseases. The only way to prevent and cure them is with mineral supplements.

Life without minerals? Impossible! Did you know that proteins, enzymes and hormones are all formed from minerals? Minerals are the cornerstone of good health, all prevention and recovery programs. The ATP process mentioned before is where the body takes the vitamins and enzymes combined with the minerals to create energy. I will discuss methods of supplementing in a moment.

As far as the low fluids a few things occur which causes this as well. You mentioned she does not eat as much. We not only get our fluids in our bodies from what we drink but we also get them from what we eat. Fruits and vegetables are very high in fluids. So even if she is drinking normal she is still loosing fluids because of reduced dietary intake of fruits and vegetables.

Also I would guess she is on a salt restricted diet. Too little salt also causes fluid problems as well as mineral absorption problems. Did they give her IV fluids to bring her fluid levels back to normal? What did they give her? She is a diabetic so I bet they gave her Normal Saline. What is Normal Saline? It is 9 grams of sodium (9000 milligrams) per liter of water. A lack of sodium in the diet also changes the pH of the stomach. For the stomach to break down food to make it more readily absorb-able it has to be acidic. The acid in the stomach is Hydrochloric acid (HCl). HCl is made by combing water and salt (sodium chloride). Many elderly people have difficulty absorbing their minerals because they lack enough stomach acid to break down the food to a usable form.

You stated that your mother has diabetes. Everybody is touched by diabetes. It's the number 3 cause of death in adults in the United States. And it has terrible complications and side-effects. Diabetes is a disease that is caused by mineral deficiencies. In 1957, in the animal industry, we learned that we could prevent and cure diabetes with two trace minerals. It was published in Federation Proceedings, which is the official journal of American Science, the National Institute of Health. The two trace minerals that you can get to prevent and cure this are chromium and vanadium.

Osteoporosis, osteoarthritis are diseases related to calcium deficiency and other trace minerals (boron, magnesium, etc). Calcium deficiency will result in something like 147 different diseases. They're just different names, they're named after people like Bells Palsey for instance, one side of your face sags, not a true stroke, it just effects your facial muscles. It's caused by calcium deficiency.

Calcium blood tests do not always detect calcium deficiency because calcium is one of the most utilized minerals in your body. Everyone is familiar with the fact that it strengthens ones bones. But it is also utilized in a large part by ones heart. The body therefore is very efficient at maintaining a proper calcium level in the blood so it can be used. Most people don't even know they have a calcium deficiency until they break a bone. This happens because the body has over time compensated for low calcium levels by taking it from the bone so it is available for the heart to use.

Other diseses are also caused by differnt mineral difficiencies. Cardio-myopathy is caused by Selenium deficiancy, aneurysms are caused by a copper deficiency, I could go on.

So how do we replace these mineral cofactors that the body needs for the "ATP" process mentioned before. There are 3 different methods of supplementing with minerals:

1 - elemental minerals - Elemental minerals are metals. In patients under 40 8-12% of the metalic minerals are absorbed into the body. Over 40 this absorption drops to 3-5%. Lets look at Calcium Lactate for example, 1000mg of Calcium Lactate contains only 140mg of elemental calcium. So if only 10% is absorbed that means on 14mg of calcium is actually absorbed.
2 - Chelated Minerals - This is the type that farmers use to feed their livestock. Chelated Minerals have digestive engymes added to increase absorption. This type of mineral has a 40% absorption rate.
3 - Choloidal Minerals - This type of mineral has been designed with a negative (-) charge. The intestinal lining carries a positive (+) charge. Since opposite charges attract each other this type of mineral is 98% absorbed.

I believe with some simple dietary changes, and supplementing with all 90 needed nutrients, (we need 60 minerals, we need 16 vitamins, 12 essential amino acids, and 3 essential fatty acids). Your mothers energy levels will return and her health will improve tremendously. If you (or anyone else) would like more information feel free to contact me through this website in private.
