Term Limits

I know we're not supposed to cross post, but I'm gonna put this in all my groups.

No diatribes, please...yes or no.

I disagree that politicians are ambitious with no goals in mind. It seems a contradiction in terms to me. Politicians are just people each with attributes and foibles like all the rest of us.

Our system of government was - and still is - an experiment in liberal democracy. I like this post. Like JB I wish for a good discussion and this subject is a good one to generate a debate.

I personally think that once you get entrenched in the system, you are oblivious to the needs of your constituency. You do what you have to to keep them happy, but you do more for the major contributors to your campaign to remain in office. What's more important? Winning the next election, or making sure that the people who voted for are taken care of to the best of your ability?

That's my point JB. Then it becomes a "winning the next race" deal and the competitor comes out. It segues away from what you can do for the people who elected you to how can I win the next election and who do I have to court to do it. Somewhere in the mix, the people who believed in you get lost.
