Group Parties/ Skits

What a wonderful way to make new friends, put actual faces and personalities to online personas and have a wonderful time in the process.

Would you consider maybe calling for one in your area/state? You don't have to put yourself out, we are all adults and can make our own reservations for rooms etc... but maybe your area has something there that we'd all like to visit like in Mystic, CT for example.

Vickie, XRO and I had such a wonderful time there with the members from the other groups and we now have more friends from all over.

How far would you fly, drive to go to a SKIT? Would you call for one in your state someday?

I have driven as far as Erie, PA for a skit. I have also driven to the Outer Banks of NC to attend a SKIT. I live in NYC currently. I have also attended a skit up in the Finger Lakes.
It is not so much the destination as it is the people attending. It is always nice to pick a place where all of us could have a grand time. For example the Erie SKIT combined a barbeque and wine tasting. The Finger Lakes was all Wine Tasting. The Outer Banks was a week long skit in a vacation setting with lots of attractions to go visit.
I have also driven 2 and 3 hours to have coffee or a meal with some of our members.
The point to all of this is -"If you build it they will come". Make sure at least two of you want to have a skit and announce it to everyone. That is how the mini skit in Newburgh came together..

As most of you know, I have flown to the Northeast from FL to meet a group of eons folks the past few days....and Mary is right...it has been so worth it....Most of these folks I have known since I first joined eons and I have been nudging for some kind of get together for a while now... it finally came together.....as much as I enjoy the online postings and chatting, for me, my friendships aren't complete until I get to do a face to face....I know we all have different comfort levels with this type of thing....so I have resigned myself to the idea that I probably won't get to meet all of the friends I have made here...but not giving up on many of y'all yet.....smiles!!

And yes, I would plan something in my area....some of the group in FL have already done a couple of get togethers....would love to get even more to join us next time.

Money is my issue, but I will always do my best to arrive. There's always a way, right?

as someone who planned and had a skit I would highly recommend it to anyone!
I think that weekend of the St Augustine skit was the best time I have had recently! It was so great to meet everyone and to be quite truthfull watching as eddie, SF, mary and blithe drove away, that last day, it was really hard.
even the short skit to the Jersey Boys was a blast, and I got to meet Joan there who I'd never met before
plan it people I know if possible I'll be there!

I would love to attend a SKIT. I travel to GTGs (Get-ToGethers) a couple times a year with a group of widows and widowers. I enjoy meeting new people. You will never know who you will meet. You plan it ... I'll come. On one condition though ... it must be handicapped accessible for the wheelchair I travel in. Go Wheeled Iron Chariot!!!

I drove from NC to KY last Oct. for a skit. Which was a 12 hr. drive. Then to the one at OBX, which is only 4 hrs. for me. I also went to a small one in Fl. in Feb. with ddt and SF, which was about 12 hrs. for me. So, obviously, distances isn't much of a problem for me. I would consider having one around here, but it wouldn't be this year, I have way too much on my plate the rest of this year.

I have made several good friends from the skits I have gone to. And would love to do more.

Distance isn't a problem for me, but scheduling is. I really enjoyed the SKIT and other mini-get-togethers I've been to and have met some super nice folks, and I stay in touch with several by phone or PM or both since then. I'd love to host a SKIT at my place in Nowhere, Georgia, if it weren't so isolated.
