New to the market

Hi all, so glad this group is here! After five years of not working, I've just divorced and moved to TN. I feel a bit foolish, thinking my prior work history would be enough. I do add to my apps that I've been running my own craft business these last five years, so potential employers don't think I just sat around watching tv all day, but so far, no calls are coming in. I'm trying not to panic...and will certainly check out all the good advise here, but wanted to jump in and say hi!

The theory of "it's not what you know but who you know" applies now more than ever. Good sources for meeting quality people that can put you on the right track are volunteer groups and networking groups. You can find both at www.meetup.com. Type in your zip code for a list of groups that meet in your area. This has been a great source for me. I promote my spray vitamins as I network for a j-o-b. I'm putting a few bucks in my pocket, and I've gotten several job leads, one of which looks very promising. You could probably do the same with your crafts.

Actually, when my house sells, I do plan on getting a storefront where I'll sell my crafts. One thing I want to do is stock other items. Who doesn't love candles! I'll certainly keep this in mind, as I was just thinking last night that I need to start making plans! Thanks!
