Mystery Fossil

What is this and where was it first discovered? I'll even give you a hint: it is a flying dinosaur of sorts. :::evil grin:::

Oh and btw, this is not something you're going to find in any field guide. For that matter this is not something you're going to find in any university text book on paleontology. Either you know the answer or you don't. ;-)

Is it archaeopteryx? Discovered in Germany 1861. I can't see some of the details very clearly.

Good guess, Binky, but I'm afraid wrong. Think feathers.

I'm sorry, I should have said think more feathers. That's the best I can do without reveal it. ;-)

OK....that's not fair, since this is such a rare fossil. Think glider......

You're very close, Binky, but you have to think a little earlier. The link between archaeopteryx and dinosaurs.....one dinosaur in particular. Very intelligent.

I'll wait until someone guesses this one. The information is out there on the Web, if you know where to look. ;-)
