Obama fire a watchdog

Then Senator Obama co-sponsored a bill that would require the President to give 30 days notice and a reason to Congress before an Inspector General could be fired, terminated, dismissed, relieved of duties etc; Last week President Obama fired an inspector general who found that his friend Johnson, a former NBA star, and current mayor, had misused $850,000. The Inspector General was doing his job but the politics of Chcago has reared its ugly head.

President Obama has yet to give a good reason, other than Mr Walpin acted strangely at a meeting. When President Bush let some AG's go there was an uproar. Now there's hardly a peep. Why is that?

White House counsel Greg Craig, responding to a letter of concern about Walpin’s termination from Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, noted that the “Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of California, a career prosecutor who was appointed to his post during the Bush Administration, has referred Mr. Walpin’s conduct for review by the Integrity Committee of the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency.”
