Modern Mythology

I have been thinking what might be some modern myths that have the possibility of being passed down from generation to generation?

Anyone who uses their brain, follows their intellect, wants to pursue something intelligent, is accepted and rewarded.

In te 1990’s America fought for democracy across the continents

; Walter Chronkit. Ws the most trusted person in the world
The race problem was solved in America by the passing of the 1985 civil rights act

.The world War 2 generation was the greatest

The 1990’s were an era of greed

The President is the Commander in Chief.
It was the governments fault that General Motors failed

you think any of these might make the myth category?

I have noticed that the Size Doesn't Matter myth is only promulgated by men. You never hear women saying that.

Just saying.....

Yup, LLL ... I did, and he didn't. Are we talking myths or outright lies?

How about "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me" ?

The most persistent myth continues to be the origin of all life. One group of leather throated loudmouths shout that God created everything a few thousand years ago. Another bunch howls that we're a lucky accident, the result of the right amino acid struck by the right lightning bolt at exactly the right moment.
Both are nonsensical.

We have plenty of evidence that the planet is 4 billion years old. The lucky accident myth pretends to have mathematics on its side, insisting that the latest computer program promises to explain it all in due time. My wife, the microbiologist, insists that "no one (in her field) believes that any more."

Hmmm. math wizards vs microbiologists: wizards insist they are close to the equation that explains it all, microbiologists believe Martinius Beijerinck's "Everything is everywhere. The environment decides." offers a better explanation. They also lean toward the notion that the only thing life (microbial) needs is water.

As we await confirmation that Gliese 581 d (the Water World) twenty light years away has life, we can ruminate on the notion that the math wizards intend to expand their "lucky accident theory" to include the Water World. After all, statistics prove that even the luckiest accident happens twice.

Hmmmm. How many "lucky accidents" will it take before the math wizards discard their "lucky accident myth?

Actuall, Marti, you do hear women say this. In fact, almost always...but only to their short-staffed lovers.
