Cool TV

This happened to me back in my early years . Dad told me to turn off tv and let it cool down . I had been watching it all day . So i got an idea . I went to our ice box and got two ice trays full of ice . I put that ice on top of tv and melted it all .it sure cooled that tv off . Dad come home after work and sit down . After a little while that tv started smoking . and went black . I admited what i had done and got a much needed wooping . Dad ended buying another tv . Repairman said it a wonder i hadn't gotton electrocuted . I wonder if anyone else ever did anything like that?
LOL...I say you were thinking logically..at the time :). Don't think I ever did anything like that BUT I do remember being with friends upstairs by my grandmother's with them. She had a tv on a stand in the kitchen. We would make a chain..one person would hold on to the sink..which I believe was cast iron, coated with enamel. We'd hold hands, make a chain and the person on the other end would put their hand on the tv...mild buzz went through us all..lol.

LOL, I think that in a way you were a very bright child. I didn't use ice, but I did use a fan. Mine was not dangerous thank God, but I still got a good whipping. LOL. I do have to say that when something gets hot now, I do shut it down to cool off. Safer that way. ;O) Thanks for sharing this with us. You gave me a good laugh.

LOL....... I can see that making perfect sense to a kid! Remember how the TVs use to have those big tubes? ,and when something went wrong you coulkd usually repair ir it by replacing the burnt tube. My dad was behind our big TV set one day working on it. My 5 year old brother walked in --saw that it was unplugged, and thought "Well Duh Dad",and plugged it in!! Knocked my dad right up against the wall!

I dont think that was your fault. You were just trying to do what your father said.
