Prayers from Revelations of Divine Love

The book is a reflective translation from the book "Revelations of Divine Love," by Julian of Norwich. Julian of Norwich was a mystic who had sixteen visions from our Lord Jesus Christ. They included a vision of Heaven, how God will perform one last act, how Satan has been conquered, how our soul is without iniquity, how prayer unites our soul to God, the rise of man's soul to God, the soul's appearance on death, how God will make all things agreeable. The visions showed the various stages of the devotional life; the undertaking imparted by God in this evolution; and Julian's perspective of God through her twenty years in reflection of the visions that imparted her with "innermost enlightenment," from the Holy Spirit.

The book is published by www.authorsonline.co.uk ISBN 978-07552-1110-4, price £7.99 or $12.95. It can be ordered online and in book-stores. You can read a synopsis and three sample chapters on the publisher's web-site by searching for the title or my name David McDermott.

Sounds like an interesting book if you like that stuff. How did you do your research on it? Zochitl

Hi Zochitl, I got a bibliography list from one book on Julian and got a lot of books from the library. It took about eighteen months for the translation and then a few more months researching to explain the visions. Kind regards Dave.

Was the book completed in submission form in that length of time or were there more months of rewriting?

I actually wrote the translation in eighteen months. Then, however, my Uncle died leaving his sister, they had both never married, she was then 100 years old. My aunt didn't want to go into a home, she had lived in the family home all her life. My cousin and I took over her care, I just put the translation aside. My aunt survived till she was almost 102, she died Christmas Eve 2007. After her death I took up the book again. It was then that I added to the translation with a researched explanation of Julian's visions. I wanted to add the explanation as Julian's work is of such intense doctrine. I hope you are able to read the sample chapters on the publisher's web-site. I was pleased when The Order of Julian gave me a good review on Amazon and The Friends of Julian in Norwich, England, are selling it, they were pleased with the additional work. The Julian site in Italy are also placing it on their bibliography web-site. Julian is known world-wide, there are prayer groups associated with The Julian Centre throughout the world. She was the first woman to write a book in England (1393), risking her life, her work at the time was heresy. Kind regards Dave.

Dear Zochtil, thank you for inviting me as a friend, which I have gladly accepted. I'm pleased that you enjoyed the sample chapters.

I am from Liverpool, England. A very vibrant and interesting city- one of the first places the Beatles played was in my local Town Hall, Litherland, before they were well known. When you pass through Beatle Street there are always Japanese people taking photographs. One of my favourite places is the water front by the Mersey,it always reminds me of the song "Ferry across the Mersey." Kind regards Dave.

David, congratulations on the good reviews. It was great of you to delay the publishing of the book to become a caregiver to your elderly aunt.

I love watching Rick Steves when he features Liverpool. I have seen the episode several times when he reruns it. I have been through Liverpool but have not stopped to get the feel of the town. Maybe next trip.
