AC

I'm a bit concerned. I've managed to keep the AC off until last night. It's finally gotten too miserable in IN. to do that, temps in the 90's humidity in the 90's. Now I'm worried about my plants. Think they liked sitting in an open window with high heat and humidity. Now I'm concerned that they won't like the AC so much. I've got shade outside but no where that they won't get water in their crowns. Any suggestions guys. I know I had planned to build them an outdoor shelter but haven't gotten that done yet. I'm worried they'll think it's fall if I leave them inside.

Your Phals actually like cooler growing temps and should be fine in air conditioning. Don't let the cold air from the vents blow directly on them. If humidity is low inside set the pots with saucers under them on a pebble tray with the water just to the top of the pebbles. They should get enough humidity from the evaporation. Remember that sunlight can actully be stonger when it shines through the window glass so you might back them off from the windows a little. The main thing is don't mist them late in the day, If there is good ari circulation, misting in the morning is okay. If they are still in bloom make sure they don't get a direct blast of cold air form the a/c. This can cause bud blast and your new buds will turn yellow and fall off.

Think I should try to find some place for the new Cat and Brassa outside? I was thinking, there isn't a lot of light on my enclosed back porch but I do have a screened in window that they would get some breeze and some light. I could move them out there.

Vent not near where they are in the house but I have to keep my downstairs cooler than upstairs due to it being an old house. They've been doing very well in their window, hate to move them....but I could put them back up in the bathroom if I needed to.
