A Stagnant Party

The Conservative Party can never survive in the naturally evolving society of America if it sticks to its’ principles.

This is a typical article by a conservative. A lot of what is printed is not the truth. There is selective information omitted because the truth hurts the Conservative Party.

This one comment by the Heritage Foundation " Civilized society requires orders and classes ". Defines Conservatism. Which is why most have rejected it.

Trippin you are a master of generalities. How can you justify a statement that "This is a typical article by a conservative." What is a typical conservative? How can you make a blanket statement that the truth hurts the Conservative Party? What is the purpose of this post? What exactly is the Conservative Party? Aren't there conservative Democrats, and conservative Moderates, and conservative Republicans, and conservative Libertarians, but I never heard of the Conservative Party? I have however heard of a conservative movement. Is that what you mean?

can xomeone tell me about a society that did not have otder or classes?
Conservative philosophy says that as many people who have the skills and willing to work ought to be able to move from class to ckass as a way of bettering themselves. Is that so scary? Conservative philosophy also says that it dos not matter the color or religion of that person just the character they bring with them.

In America a member of the Conservative Party was originally called a Tory. Anyone who knows a little about American history knows this to be true. When our Constitution was being written there was opposition to the imagined idea of a ‘free society’….this opposition was from the Tory party. There is no room for discrimination of any kind in the free society the majority of the framers of our Constitution envisioned. That is why Tories were not exiled back to England.

Later in our history came a fear of Communism. This fear caused a surge in conservative thinking much the same as the fear that caused conservatives to say, “Send all black people back to Africa”.

While Mr. Buckley did start a magazine he was by no means the person responsible for starting the ‘new conservative movement’. In fact, some ‘conservatives’ thought Mr. Buckley was not a very good ‘conservative’. That is because there is a difference between being a political conservative and a religious conservative. It is possible to be one and not the other, both, or a little of each.

A conservative believes, for the most part, in traditionalism. I can make the statement about the article, Cod, because the author of the article, not me, defines himself as a true conservative. The purpose of the thread is to inspire conversation, Cod. As to what, exactly, the Conservative Party is, Cod, it is said to be based on the ideals of social and political conservatism with one religion as its’ root of beliefs. Of course there are conservative people of different parties but that is basically, I believe, because of archaic religious doctrines coupled with a global community conservatives failed to foresee centuries ago much less were able to accept the formation of in this century. Conservatism is based on the idea that every one has a place they fit into in a society where they must remain because of tradition. It has always been the Conservatism – ‘new age’ Tories – that have fought against such things as women being considered as equal to men, women being allowed to have the right to have abortions, interracial marriages being legal, having integrated school systems, Blacks having the same civil rights as all other Americans as well as not having one religion be the cornerstone of our government. Simply because the traditional idealism of conservatism won’t ever work in a free society the old conservative idealism is falling by the wayside and folks who once believed they were conservatives have to change along with our ever evolving free society. Thus, Cod, a typical conservative no longer exists with the exception of the existence of those people convinced that America is harnessed to the traditions of only one religion.

You are showing an unwillingness to call a conservative party a conservative party, Cod. Perhaps your reluctance signifies your distaste for, or dissatisfaction with, the conservative party.
