This is Shadow. He got that name because he followed me everywhere I went. Still does. He is spoiled rotten.

Nolan Your George looks like my dog when I was a kid. He is cute. Smart I bet.

I do indeed. Two female Ragdoll breed cats. One is Bob (yeah, I know) and the other is Furface, named after a dog in an old Stephen King novel.
Sue, with their blue eyes, I think my cats and your dog are related! :-)

I present Bob.

I do not have a good one of George but first Gracie who will act like a dog at times:

Gracie training one of us

When we moved into our home Terry just had to have her own cat to go with George (who happens to be Kaither's cat), but her she is trying to get her mouse.

Next is my girl who will share me with Terry, but when Terry gets out of bed in the morning and I happen to still be sleeping Dharma will jump up on the bed and spend her quality time sleeping nearly behind my knees. But first here she is watching her bone go flying around ready to pounce on it:

find the bone

The above picture is when we got her and found that she does like to play, contrary to what we were told at that time.

Below is the next spring when we realized that they kept her hair very short only to realize that she does have plenty of hair growth. Something that we were not told about, but luckily she does not shed her hair but will take after the Soft-Coated Terrier. We decided to get her groomed fairly often after that first winter had shown us that not only does she love the snow but loves to play in it as well.

Dharm Looking

Above was taken after we had one of our last spring snows. it was also a time when we learned that she loves the snow but there is a time for play and a time to come back inside. Below is her way of showing me a wide variety of things like it is time to go inside or where is my treat to when is dinner?

Dharma telling me to shake

One last one was when she started to gain trust in me after we had rescued her from what ever life she had before we adopted her. In all it took about two years to fully gain her trust and love the kind of love you would come to expect when dogs are finally able to give that unconditional love toward their human that in the beginning I was not certain that she could ever do something like that. It took around 24 hours before she learned she could trust me to a certain extent but I could also see the pain she endured those first few months of her life. There is a lot of truth behind that statement that the eyes are the window to your soul for I could see it in Dharma's eyes the changes she made from being mistreated until the time we adopted her. At first I could see that her time with those other folks was not a pleasant time for her at all, but it took her a few hours to understand that I was not like whom ever had her before us and even with that start of the very tiny bit of trust with me she learned that she really was wanted and probably needed her as much as she needed me.

The first month

Around a month after we adopted Dharma if you look at her eyes you could see that she had a very guarded sense of trust with anyone. Somethings that we had found out, she does not like children at all. I am not sure of the reason but Kaither (my step-son) no matter how much he tried, she refuses to even make friends with him. This included everything from trying to pet her, to giving her dinner or even trying to give her a treat. One thing I am fairly certain about is that there is something in her past that with Kaither must resemble someone who treated her very badly because of her refusal to even try with the kid.

Before Kaither had gone off to college, one night he came home after spending a weekend at his father's place. When Kaither came in the door, she tried to go after and attack Kaither, because before then she did not show any signs of aggression at all. Although he would not give me a straight answer I finally figured it out, it really was not Kaither per say but the smell of pot that soaked into his clothing and remained there for a while. After I told him a few stories about how dogs are trained how to sniff out drug possession and Dharma equates the odor with something in her past that involved the unmistakable aroma of pot. I know after that Kaither was more careful about being around his father if he was smoking pot. After that one night, Dharma had never gone after Kaither again because something like that could actually ruin his plans on scholarships or even playing at the pro level like his dreams of doing when he is out of college. I can be very thankful that he actually listened to me as well as asking his mom if that was true what I had told him, to which she did agree with me on something.

Overall with the exception of the very first day where I made the mistake of taking off her lease too soon and Terry and I spent the next hour trying to chase her down when she did make a run for it. Overall Dharma has not been the type of trouble and horror stories that we got when we first adopted her. The only thing she has shown that is true is that she can be hard-headed when it comes to something she either fears or have no idea about what is going to happen to her next. It took a while for me to earn her trust in me as I have shown the trust that she does know the difference between right and wrong in how I see her actions. Now I am getting what she has always wanted to do is give to her human that unconditional love that she knows inside that is a part of her.

Introducing Phannie and Owlett, lady companions to Chat Noir. Owlett is the smallest of the three, but she is the head of the household. Chat outweighs her by 11 pounds, so does Phannie, but Owlett is the head kitty! She just orders Chat around, bat him, hisses at him, he does as she says. Phannie is pretty much above it all, she is very sanguine, takes it all in stride. Chat is a wild man, treats the house like Indy Raceway, over and around everything.
