FIRST ANNIVERSARY - EONS BOOK GALLERY
On 16th June, 2009 Eons Book Gallery(EBG) group celebrates her first anniversary!
EBG houses all Eons members who are published authors together with avid EBG readers. Prior to the formation of the group, authors were only able to write in a message in other groups that their books were published, so, by creating EBG, authors had their own space. The next step was to obtain Eons' permission for authors to promote their books on the site and this was granted by the team Community Gal and Suzy. They encouraged the members to invite authors outside of Eons to create a network of and for authors.
Our first project was the event Authors' Weekend.
The authors were given specific times and dates for being available to 'chat' with Eons members about their books. Also, to answer questions about their writing experiences, the craft of writing and the roads to publishing and promotion. They assisted in advertising the event by writing blogs and posting on theirs, and other websites.
We obtained permission to stage the event to include a front page ad on October 4th and 5th. The two day event was opened to all members of Eons.
On Saturday 4th October, 2008 we launched our event with Eons carrying our banner on the front page! We were ecstatic! Of course, it was my first experience at this so we suffered some setbacks.(lol) Our able crew, JayelGibson, Platform and JaQuel were at the helm and did a marvellous job of monitoring the site. I had to work during the day but joined at night (we continued until 10pm EST) and on Sunday the four of us managed the event. Eons Exclusives Editor monitored the Authors' Weekend and complimented all on how succesful it was!

It was our first try at having more than fifty authors get together, each with their readied message, to "chat" with members.
I think last year was very successful as we now have approximately 100 authors who are members and over 200 members who are interested in reading EBG books. I almost forgot our Eons Roving Book Van and List(soon to be making its rounds) and the Author's Slide.
What direction we take this coming year depends on what you suggest we do. Should we attempt another Authors Day/Weekend, taking note of the suggestions for improvement we received last year? And, of course, if we can persuade Eons to help us again.
So, make suggestions.
