raise taxes

That's a nasty word for any politician.
Cap and trade sounds good, no mention of taxes, better to do that than raise taxes on fuel which is a much simpler solution.
Lower taxes doesn't work because what gets hit first? Welfare programs and anything to do with improving infrastructure.
Obama wants to equalise the economy, make the income tax more progressive. The way he is doing it now the middle class is going to get blindsided.
The government is broke after using 5% of the stimulus which wasn't really a stimulus but a wishlist of the Democratic party which won't even come into effect before 2019. Why waste a crisis?
The Tarp money they are reluctantly accepting back from the banks was at a 5% interest gain. Who lends money for such a low figure?
It's called accepting the status quo and being stupid.
Most people still can't see where Obama is going with the economy. Can't wait till next year and middle class people see an increase in taxes, an increase in inflation and links to make themselves feel better , like NPR

there is no need to raise taxes

do you want to jump start the economy
it is easy

abolish the incentives companies have for outsourcing jobs (it will save tax payers money that can be used to other origrans)
abolish the laws that prevent to create manufacturing pands in the US (this will create jobs in the US and more taxes will be colected avoiding the increase of taxes)
abolish the laws that forbid smal companies to compete against corporate america (it will create a more powerfull middle class with more speding capabilities, so more americans good will be manufactured)
abolish the laws that punish the export of american made goods (it will also create jobs, and will bring whealth to the US, it will increase the exports while decresing the imports)

no it is not about taxes, it is aout the actual laws we have

i am living in the US

i am paying taxes in the US, even when i was not living in the US

i was paying taxes in the US even after i resigned my american citizenship

and in case you forgot, i also said i aplied to become an inmigrant next day i resigned my american citizenship

alos in case you forgot, i also said i want to leave a better country for my daughter

as for you, you can be happy that jobs are outsourced
you can be happy each time it is harder for americans to have jobs
you can be happier the middle class is disapiaring

nothing will surprice me
but i will continue to be truthfull to myself, and make my best effort to have the US become a better country

but as you are concern abut my american citizenship and resigning to it

what would yo have done in my case
your ideas could be helpfull to others in the same case as myself

or dont you have a better idea, because you never sugested a diferent way to do things

Tj….Taxes on fuel are being raised on a state level. In fact they just raised them in my state.
If you bothered to read the budget proposal cap and trade is a part of it along with revised tax laws that do raise taxes.
The pay as you go law is back as well. That puts a cap on government spending. That is the bill the first Mr. Bush had that the second Mr. Bush did away with so that he could run our deficit up.
There may come a time when people earning less than $250,000 a year will have their taxes raised. Our taxes are a source of revenue for our government. It isn’t a tax raise that I would be angry about it is where my taxes go that concerns me. I doubt that the Obama Administration will misspend my tax dollars because President Obama is working on cleaning up the messes left him by previous presidents and I think, unlike Mr. Bush, Mr. Obama cares more about others than he does about himself. To date nothing that has been done has been carried out in secret. I like that there is transparency. So….if my taxes are raised I am confident it will be for good reason and the monies spent wisely.

The purpose of the stimulus package was not so the government could make money it was to allow the banks breathing room to get the banks out of trouble. That is why the interest is low. Of course, you can give me 5% of just one billion dollars any time you want to and I would be happy as a dog with two peckers if you think 5% of billions of dollars is chump change. Folks are screaming that the government is taking over ownership of the banks because they don’t have a brain of their own and buy into the tripe put out by folks who simply want President Obama to fail.

Trippen, I'll just let you read my pay as you go post first, then you can tell me about your beloved Obama.
Taxes on fuel are being raised at the state level? I didn't know that; I thought the rise in your fuel costs were due to speculator activity affecting the price of a barrel of oil.

Charles, I'm an expat. That means I am an American citizen living overseas. I pay taxes and vote just the same as you. And surprise my kids are American citizens, too! Only difference is they have dual citizenship. Right now my son is living in NY.

Really? It seems I remember you saying once about being proud to have " left all this behind ".

But if you say your " I'm an expat. That means I am an American citizen living overseas. I pay taxes and vote just the same as you." I can't dispute that without some serious digging into your personal business.

But to the point of the post. The price of fuel risings has many fathers. Of which include the cost of making differing blends for use in different parts of the country. It also has to do with state taxes that are being imposed by cashed strapped states who had to raise taxes to pay for programs once paid for by the fed. And the ridiculous rise in oil prices last year around this time had much to do with speculators driving up the price of a barrel of oil to over $100.00 a barrel. When you put things in context ( like those of us in America who want America to succeed ) you can draw a better more accurate conclusion than those who take factual information out of context in order to bash Obama.

More scare tactics from the right and again " No Plan ".
