Flea & Tick Control FOR CATS...

What SAFE product(s) are we even using these days?

I am now the proud caretaker of a 13 year old darling of a golden cat. As his person now, I wish to do the very best by him. He had radiation a year ago to eradicate two parathyroids to alleviate pressure on the heart and he snapped back beautifully. I love the little trooper. The family he came from are terrific . We have a year history of visits before this and he and the family trust me.

What think y'all?

Cheers,

Most cats can tolerate a number of different flea control products, but some cannot. This is really a question for the vet, since the vet would be aware of any contraindications for particular chemicals used in flea control.

If you can find it, organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar added to the food is supposed to be a flea repellant.

What ever you do don't put a flea collar on him. A friend of mine put one on his cat and found the cat dead the next morning. The cat was frantically trying to get it off, but the friend made him keep it on. To say the least, did he ever feel guilty!

I think it's great you took in an elderly cat. I'm thinking of starting a sanctuary for senior cats.

I've decided to skip it for now since for 13 years he went without.

The apple cider I shall try. His lemon catnip plant is helping too. I used a bit o' butter for hairballs and it worked thanks to grandmajody and also olive oil was suggested :)

He's not the dog I was looking for but he sure is full of love. He comes when I whistle and follows me around so he is part canine hahhahaha

He sounds adorable, Elle! I use Advantage on my 3 cats, even my senior, but I agree you should check with your vet. The dosage is different for my elderly cat because he doesn't weigh as much as the others. I agree, also, no flea collar! I hate those things. Since he's always gone without, he might do just fine.
