SHER BITES on the 4th of July

And I’m not talking about hotdogs, darlings…. I’m zipping in to give you some quick bits of gossip and I’ll be back by champagne brunch time on Friday with your full course of this week’s Gossip au Go Go..

But for now NOW, mon cher, I want to add my (southern tinged) voice to the throngs saying a heartfelt farewell to the glorious Beverly Sills who went to that great opera season in the sky on Monday.

I met her once, ever so briefly, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and sat right behind her as we watched a performance of the tres bizarre opera “Beatrix Cenci”. I remember her friendly smile and she had the most gorgeous peachy skin I have ever seen.. view link

What’s not to love about Sir Richard Branson? He’s a gazillionaire, creative as all get-out and still has that hippie edge -- PLUS , he loves his mama!

He just threw his Rock the Kasbah party at Hollywood hangout the Roosevelt hotel in honor of his mother Eve, whom he clearly adores. She heads his charitable projects in Morocco, by the by… Momma Branson obvioualy loves her 56 year old “boy”, too and was telling everyone in earshot what a stinker he was growing up , but there was “never a dull moment”.

I was not at the party myself.. my invitation apparently was lost in the mail.. I am getting SO UPSET about these snafus, darlings! ( Sir Richard, have your people call my people and all will be forgive if you will agree to an Eons interview!)
Speaking of folks with tons of money and British accents, there’s always Madonna… well, I don’t know if that weird affectation is an “accent” but I hear she may be guesting on my fave TV show, “The Simpsons”, in an upcoming episode as herself ( maybe reading from her godawful English rose kids’ books? Oh, PLEASE Matt Groening, let Bart “review” Madge’s “children’s literature”, I double dog dare you!)

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chrissie Hynde is opening VegeTerranean, a – DUH - vegetarian restaurant in her hometown of Canton, Ohio, later this year.

I love rock and roll and I love Chrissie and the Pretenders! If you love her and you are in the Canton area on September 15th, get your jivin’ self over to the restaurant for the grand opening , and a FREE CONCERT by Chrissie.

Ciao for now, sweeties!
Smooches,
Sher

As a singer, I was inspired by the success of Beverly Sills not only in her own country, but in her HOMETOWN! But it was her grace, her humor and her infectious smile that I will remember the most. The voice was fabulous, but she proved there is life after as well as alongside a performing career. Addio, Bubbles.... the afterlife will be sweeter for the beauty of your voice and your presence.
