Exploring Gimp's Menu Bar - Pointer
There are a lot of color grabbers to use but this dialog allows you to rapidly glide across the image and pick colors or measure distances in inches. Picking colors in this case means either writing down or remembering the hex code. The measurements are all based from start point X,Y= 0,0. The Gimp documentaion is inside as a reply.
