Yes, we all know that Gimp works but we are looking for your everyday works, your daily Gimp tasks and projects that you use elsewhere. These are not the "wow!" I wanted to do a curve text image this morning and forgot how. I was able to go to our tools menu and find the video for doing curve texts.

This project required the use of the Desaturate tool and since I have learn how to effectively use layers in Gimp the alignment of the text areas is so easy now.

This is an image I wanted to post in the Iowa Group and I decided to do a bit of photo restoration on it first. I isolated the text and treated it different than the image. The image alignment was corrected with the "corrective backward" function of the "Rotate" tool and I used layer masks to highlight features in the image and to clean up the text background areas. Keeping the smoke in the picture was a problem when I tried to bring out other features but I was able to do so with trial and error. Below is the original image.

Fireweed
I tried many times to take a photo of the fireweed in Kenai, Alaska in the 60's but I did not have the equipment to catch the colors. The above image was taken by an amateur photographer in Kenai with a simple digital camera. We have come a long way with photography! The digital cameras have made photography an art form anyone can participate in. If you look just near the top of the flower field you will see why this is called fireweed. The colors changes towards the end of the season and soon this field will look like it is on fire. I had to enhance this image with the Gimp software to bring out the trues colors. Had I not lived there and know what the flowers are suppose to look like I would not have had a clue that the colors are off. I used Gimp to enhance both the colors and to give the sky some features. The original image is below. ~gJ
