Allistair McCall has a new Ladies Detective Agency book and the HBO series is fantastic!
I LOVE Alexander McCall Smith! In addition to his "Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency" books, he has a series of three (Prof. Dr. Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld trilogy) that are hilarious - "Portuguese Irregular Verbs," "The Finer Points of Sausage Dogs," and "At the Villa of Reduced Circumstances." The entire trilogy is titled, "The 2 1/2 Pillars of Wisdom." I love listening to these books on CD. He has two more series that I love - the "44 Scotland Street" series ("44 Scotland Street," "Espresso Tales," "Love Over Scotland," and "The World According to Bertie") and the Isabel Dalhousie series ("The Sunday Philosophy Club," "Friends, Lovers, Chocolate," "The Right Attitude to Rain," "The Careful Use of Compliments," and "The Comforts of a Muddy Saturday." "The Lost Art of Gratitude" will be coming out in Sept.
I wish I had HBO so that I could watch the #1 LDA series!
I have had the opportunity to read both Still Alice and Those Who Save Us...both are spectacular books not to be missed!
granted, I'll be OOT the second Sat. in July when the discussion for STILL ALICE begins. Will look forward to reading your comments when I return. I found the book painful to read but beautifully written.

I am very new to both Eons and the Bookoholics group. I have found your monthly book list for upcoming discussion - I think - but need to know your finishing dates when they'll be open for comment. Any and all help gratefully accepted.
Welcome, HeyDaze. The optional monthly book reads are open for comments on the second Saturday of the posted month. Barb will open the discussion and then it's a free for all.

Thank you, Rapa. It encourages me to participate in a group that has such attentive followers. I'll mark my calendar for the second Saturday of either July or August depending on my progress at that point in time. I am a very SLOW reader, but I do have the advantage of my new Kindle2 which provides nearly instant access to any books still in print. And mostly for $9.99, how can you NOT be prepared? See y'all next month - or the one after!
Thank you, BarbieDoll,
I haven't chosen one yet but will as soon as I finish Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin. Anybody out there who feels Margaret Atwood is simply must-reading for our generation? I'm better than half way through and still not sure?
I have a friend in the Czech Republic who is a HUGE Margaret Atwood fan, and she loaned me two of her books which I read when I lived there (a real blessing to have a friend who buys books written in English, as they are SO expensive over there!). Anyway, I enjoyed them somewhat, but not enough to read any more of her work since I've been back in the U.S.
