A Gift From The Russian People

A gift from the people of Russia. Why has this not been reported to the American people. Did the Cold War never end?

The "Teardrop" memorial is real and is a 100-foot September 11th sculpture that was donated by the Russian people and is located in New Jersey.

The memorial was dedicated on September 11, 2006 in a ceremony attended by former President Bill Clinton. Also in attendance were Michael Chertoff, the Bush Administration Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, and family members of World Trade Center victims. Recording artist Leann Rimes sang the National Anthem and Amazing Grace at the dedication ceremony.

The Memorial is in Bayonne, N.J. It is inscribed with the names of the 911 victims.

I saw this on Stumble a month or so ago. It was the first I had heard about it.

First I've heard about this too, Roslyn. What a beautiful sculpture and memorial. And a wonderful gift from Russia, how ungrateful we must seem.

Good question Roslyn, it seems there are a whole lot of people who don't know about this memorial. A quick search on Google, revealed 116,000 hits a good number of the posts are asking why don't we know. There's even a couple of mentions on Snopes.com and UrbanLegends.com.

I just Stumbled it too, Pluto. And then I Googled. Most of the posts are from around mid-March.

Wow. I, too, am in the ranks of the previously uninformed.

I guess that the MSM didn't consider it newsworthy . . . unlike the latest nonsense . . . those so-called gaffes in protocol, in which the First Lady deigns to touch the Queen, or the President bows, as a sign of respect for a foreign Head of State.

Beautiful sculpture. Ungrateful, indeed.

Beautiful...I am wondering why it was so under reported..

Beautiful, I have to admit that I was totally unaware of this. Guess the gift came after Bush reconsidered what he saw in putin's eyes?

It all makes me wonder if we do have a "free" press. However, I know all about The Presidential Puppy and how Obama broke a campaign promise to get a pound puppy.

I work in rescue and the whole rescue world is really unhappy. There are threats of wrapping up a "pound puppy" and sending it to the White House so the girls will both get their own dog. However, that will not happen as we love our furry friends far too much too wrap um up. But I must admit that I was disappointed in the Obamas. What a wasted opportunity to show an example of compassion over self.

The puppy was a gift from Ted Kennedy. What were they supposed to do? Refuse it?

I feel it would have been rude to refuse the new puppy from Sen. Kennedy.. Malia's allergies had to be considered. The President and First Lady did make a substantial contribution to the SPCA. I own a rescue dog, it does not make me special... Jack was just a really good fit for me.. it is not for everyone.. it is still okay to want/get/buy a brand new puppy.. or to want/get/buy a pedigree. I don't have a problem with that.
