Online Background Pattern Maker

This is a neat tool to use to make tiled backgrounds. view link bgpatterns.com/ You choose an image and then the foreground and background colors. You also have 5 choices for the canvas and you can rotate the image. You can also adjust the Image Opacity, Image scale and the location on the tile.

Here are some examples done fairly quickly.

Oh, they do have more colors than just blue! Have Fun!

Where was this find when I was doing those backgrounds on my web pages, Mimi? LOL This is a LOT easier than trying to figure out what I want to do. You can bet I'll be using this site a lot.

Thanks for the great share.

can you show us some ways we might use this tool? I do not have a web page so thats not something I do yet. Is there a use for it here on EONS other than a banner which we might not do very often.....so to use it for posts? In what way?

Yes, there are ways that you can use backbrounds in message posts or on widget boxes as a background to something you'd want to put there. I help with the youth on Wednesday nights, so I will have to get offline soon and be off for awhile. I'll see if I can't grab some examples for you. Be right back.

This Could be the Title
Then you could have writing underneath. You could put this in a blog or in a widget box. You could use it in a message post or PM. You could have a poem in it. All kinds of things! You could also have the title in the box with a background and have the writing underneath.

I don't have time right now to give you other ideas, but any of the code we played with that had background images could be used. I'll be back on around 9 and see what you've come up with. I'll locate some other ideas for you then, too. This needs a little work on the padding, but I'm out of time, LOL

Here's the code I used. I nearly forgot! LOL

<div style="width:480px; color: maroon; border: 10px double; border-color: maroon; background-image: url(http://www.eons.com/images/members/ 2009/4/13/9/9/99608693219410518187.jpg); "><span style="display: block; text-align: center; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; font-size: 20px;">This Could be the Title</span><br />Then you could have writing underneath. I'll be back around 9. Someone else might come by with some ideas, too! Have Fun!

Oh, watch out for the extra spaces that Eons Message Editor adds to the code.

It took longer than I thought, LOL! A few distractions along the way.

Here are some links to Welcome messages that used a box with a background.

You could use something like this for a title of a blog with perhaps a smaller box and lettering. Or you could put your favorite quote or saying on your profile page in a box with a background. Maybe a few different quotes or sayings in their own little boxes.

You could have a scrolling box with quotes:

There are basically two types of people. People who accomplish things, and people who claim to have accomplished things. The first group is less crowded. ~Mark Twain

The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you're still a rat. ~Lily Tomlin

Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age. Sometimes age just shows up all by itself. ~Tom Wilson

The newest computer can merely compound, at speed, the oldest problem in the relations between human beings, and in the end the communicator will be confronted with the old problem, of what to say and how to say it. ~Edward R. Murrow

You could also use the scrolling box in a sticky for announcements, upcoming events, birthday wishes, and such. Eons no longer has the life events thing-a-ma-bob, but you might list important events in your life in a scolling box - not too many details, but general things.

And, well, duh - you could use the tool to make a tiled images to use as your background! You could have one that was full color for the page and one that was muted down for the sections, etc. I should have thought to suggest that first!

These are just a few examples. This is also something we could discuss at the Code Party. If someone has used some of this in their group or on their profile page, they could share what they've done.

There's a file in the file section with links to some of the backgrounds stored in the Photo section. It's called "Background Index". It has some "blinkie" backgrounds that I made a pixlr and iaza. I'll be adding links to other backgrounds as I find time. I'm not linking to the file because the link will break when I add new info.

If you want to add some backgrounds to the photo section for people to use when they play, feel free to do so. You can put them in the album named, "bg" (for backgrounds) or start your own album.

Feel free to use these backgrounds when we play. Course, you can use your own backgrounds, too, LOL.

Thought I'd put the information about the file in this message and see if it moved up with a reply. I think that problem has been fixed.

Have fun!

That scrolling box is amazing. Could you show us the complete code you used for that?

Here's the code that was used for this particular one:

<div style="width:280px; padding: 5px; background: url(http://www.eons.com/images/members/ 2009/4/15/9/8/98715893212909518187.jpg); border:8px groove #768895;"><marquee height="100px" scrollamount="1" direction="up" style="padding: 4px; color: #000033; border: #000000 8px double;" width="90%">YOUR TEXT HERE</marquee></div>

Eons Message editor adds extra spaces when we post code - especially in URL's. It might be easier to copy the code here: view link ccs.110mb.com/eons/copar/copar4a.html#5. _Automatic_Scrolling_Box_with_words:

We get to playing in the code parties. One person will post something and another will add something a little different. Different ones posted marquees inside of a boxes (div or p), but I don't remember who first posted a box with a scrolling message going up, LOL!

You might enjoy looking through some of the Code Parties and/or Pre-parties. view link ccs.110mb.com/eons/codestoshare.html# Code_Parties_Oh_yeah_ If you see something you'd like to learn more about, just play with it there or start a new post if you want. We get new ideas (or share old ones) when we play!
