I have found that losing weight and maintaining the loss is a matter of sticking to some fairly simple rules: limit carb intake, reduce alcohol and get lots of exercise, daily if possible. I am currently doing walking and biking at least two hours every day with occasional tennis (doubles). More information is available from a recently completed book, FEARLESS WEIGHT LOSS.

I agree, you need to lose weight and maintain it. I have lost 105 pounds on Weight Watchers in the last 3 years and recommend it to anyone. It is not a diet, it is a life style. For exercise, I do 10 minutes of Pilates each night, take an hour Tai Chi class 3 x week, and do chair yoga for an hour, once a week. I like to take a brisk walk around the block in my nieghborhood. Good health and wellness means prevention. Feed the mind, body, and spirit!

Developing Asthma during my twenties and finding myself having to take daily inhalors, injections and medications led me on the path to discover a way to get off all this medication. After trying many different healing modalities, nine years ago when I was introduced to therapeutic-grade essential oils from Young Living and the concept of cleansing and eating right and using superior supplements,to-day at 58 years I am no medication whatsoever!Added to this I try to maintain a balance in my spiritual, emotional and physical life.

I believe that old saying "we are what we eat" is so true. We are living beings -- alive. So, I only eat living food -- nothing cooked or processed (which is dead food). I started eating this way many years ago when I was quite ill -- it made such a difference! I started recovering quickly, my energy level increased, and I felt great. I do my best to eat mainly organic food to reduce the chemical impact and drink plenty of pure water. Regular exercise, enough sleep, and keeping a positive outlook on life is an important part of my life, too. I rarely get sick, my weight stays stable and I always have plenty of energy.
What works for me is 'variety ~ moderation ~ exercise'

Hello everybody, I'm houstonfit and I am excited about joining your group. I am 61 and have been working at my heath and fitness for some time now, since about 48 when I saw the BIG 5-0 coming. I like to eat right, mostly low fat, and I like to workout in strength and cardio. And I'm even thinking of dropping out of the corporate world and getting into fitness as a vocation.
Anyway, I hope we can help each other through this group.

Hello,
I have always been the athletic type but I didn't worry too much about my diet when I was younger until recently. I'm more health conscientious and I look forward to what I find on this group.
Hello,
I've been the yo-yo a few times as have a lot of you I would guess. I work for a nutritional company, and have enjoyed improved wellness over the last two years using their products. However, I haven't had a weight loss goal, and as a result have gained unwanted pounds during this period. They have a weight loss program that I am now starting, and I will try to report on it weekly.
