In DH, while Hermione, Ron and Harry were on the run and camping at various sites they had the opportunity to camp near a remote farm. From this farm, Hermione got some eggs (and maybe some bread???). As I listened to my audio book I was thinking that Hermione should have used the multiplying spell on the food so she, Ron and Harry would always have something to eat. Am I being too picky?

you are not of the magic set because if you were you would relize that food produced thru magic is not filling it really has no substance...you remain hungry

That's not the way it was explained by Ms Rowling. Food is the only thing that cannot be materialized out of thin air. But if you have it you can stretch, multiply, or increase it.
