Brush Dynamics Video

The above "Brush Fun" image was created in about three seconds while viewing the video.
This is a great video describing the "brush dynamics" features of our brush tool options. We find out that although many of the settings are for those lucky people with graphics tablets but there are quite a few we all can use.This is an excellent video, the author spends most of the first part describing the brush dynamics and a few other brush settings and then shows his digital artistic abilities by drawing an iris, sit back and enjoy his drawing!

The video is an mp4 format video which will play in the QuickTime player. It will not open automatically in my Firefox browser but may open in your IE browser by clicking on the following link. If not then copy the url address in the box below and paste it into your QuickTime program. Just click on "File" then "Open URL" and then paste the link. It loads up slowly for me but be patient, it is worth it!

Brushes Video
The following video provides information about brush types in the brushes dialog. The author is a bit boring but the information is useful. He also covers how to make your own brushes but the essential information here is the description of the different types of brushes.

Quick tip from the Gimp documentation above:

While using a brush pressing the Ctrl key changes the paintbrush to a Color Picker.

I never knew this it would have come in handy many of times!

Varying Brush Size
This is a feature I am truly going to enjoy: varying my brush size by my mouse wheel! You can also set up Gimp to vary it with te up and down keyboard arrows. It works great and you can see the results right on the image as you vary it, no guess work.

I wish I had another computer so I could watch this on another monitor and follow along. There is a lot to remember!

I have connected my second monitor up to the back of my laptop, that works great! Also using the "pause" button with the videos helps a lot.
