About ScottQMarcus

After having lost 70 pounds more than 12 years ago, I learned that the key to changing one's life is not about the actions, but about the thoughts, feelings and beliefs. I am now a THINspirational speaker and I help "increase productivity, morale, and joy among other recovering perfectionists by eliminating procrastination and perfectionism."

I am also a syndicated columnist and write a weekly column about "weight loss, habit change, and other acts of faith." (Many of the posts are at www.WeightLossColumn.com. view link )

And, if you'd like to take part in the day-to-day battles of maintaining a healthy body, I have another blog at www.ForeverFightingFat.com. view link )

I have lost 50 lbs a couple of years ago and now fight to maintain. I disagree about thoughts, etc. not being as important as actions. Actions are key and thought can be an escape or a displacement for doing what needs to be done. Thinking about instead of 'doing about' is a disease of procrastinators and neurotics in general. I am all too familiar with this secondary defense...a way to be safe instead of an achiever. Results speak louder than words'; otherwise self defeating cognitions may take the leading role and one becomes a victim of the 'pathology of hope' where frustration and guilt are the corollaries of
of goal incited action.
