It's Code Party 01 Time!

We'll be playing with code! I'll post some code for you to copy, make changes and post what you can do with it. It would be great if you could also post the code you used. You can use one of the methods in this post - view link - to convert the code so you can post it. But don't worry if you don't know how to do that. We can go to "view - source" to see it.

We'll start off with some code we've done so newbies can play and then I'll post some other code. Feel free to help each other out and make suggestions! As we get to playing, if you have some other code to share, feel free to post it and we'll play with that, too!

This is the first time we've done this, so things may get a little confusing or a little hectic! But, the idea is to have fun and learn a thing or two!

We're starting out with some code from the "Pre-Party" and then we'll add more. I'll be putting codes in replies, but you can show us what you've done with any of the code at any time!

One of the simpliest codes to have a border is to have all sides the same. Here's the code:

<div style="border: 20px solid red;">Here is my text.</div>

And here is how it looks:

Here is my text.

To play, just copy the code and make changes. You can change the size, 20px, to a different number. Just don't have a space between the number and px

You can change the word - red - to any common color.

Of course, you can change the words inside by replacing - Here is my text - with your words. Give it a try and see what you get.

So...must I use the converter to put it in EONs? I know how to web page it.

Here I've changed the size to 10px and the color to blue:

Here is my text.

<div style="border: 10px solid blue;">Here is my text.</div>

No, you don't need to use the converter.

I use the converter so the code I use will show up in the message. Otherwise, the Eons message box will cause it to execute and you can't copy the code to make changes.

So basically, I put in the code so the bordered box will show up

Then I use the converter so that the code will show up!

Mimi,

I noticed in the pre code party you were working with text color and used the font tag. Isn't that being deprecated? Should we still be using it?

You can also change the "style" of the border. Just replace the word - solid - with the one of these words - dotted - dashed - double - inset - outset - ridge - groove

Here I've changed the the word - solid- to ridge:

Here is my text.

<div style="border: 10px solid ridge;">Here is my text.</div>

Here is my text with bold and italic and a narrower green border.
