Rotate Tool

This tool is used to rotate the active layer, a selection or a path. When you click on the image or the selection with this tool a Rotation Information dialog is opened. There, you can set the rotation axis, marked with a point, and the rotation angle. You can do the same by dragging the mouse pointer on the image or the rotation point.
There seems to be a few new functions that we hopefully will learn about. While playing with this tool in the past I never was able to get "Number of grid lines" activated and frankly never knew why I would want to! Lets see what we can learn.....

Video Tutorial
One of the things I learn here was that you can move the "fix point" or pivot point of the rotation.

Corrective (backward)
I am still not sure about the "Corrective (backward) function but I guess I won't lose any sleep on it. If I run across anything about it I will update this post.
Found this:
"Corrective" is handy if you want to align horizontal or vertical lines: select 'image+grid" in the "preview" box, then align the grid with vertical and/or horizontal lines."
Alright I figured it out.
Here is a example of a horizon out of whack. 02543953219827468610_610w Here is where I rotated the grid and lined up the grid with the existing horizon. The grid is rotated left to do this, after rotation the image moved to the right. Hence the name Corrective (backward) 69243953216146468610_610w Here is the results, noticed it was auto-cropped. 99243953214955468610_610w Here is the settings I used: 19243953211863468610_610w

Some of the functions in the tool options are not very well documented for many of the Gimp tools. You have to learn to read between the lines. I definitely learned some valuable information today.

I made a video of the corrective (backward) future just to see what would be involved to do so. Here it is:
