Newbie

I just joined and added a few photos of some of the jewelry I have made. I like working with copper wire, mostly 8, 10 and 12 gauge. I started learning to solder, hammer and form copper as it was so much cheaper than sterling but I found that I really love working with it. It's pretty soft so easier to form when using larger wire, plus I just love the color! I'm getting so I don't hit my thumb quite as often as at first!

Welcome! As you've seen, there's a wide variety of talent in this group. You have VERY appealing copper designs - and your photographs are stellar. Do you polish your copper pieces over time, or do you let them age gracefully?

Thanks! I don't have a tumbler so any polishing I do is with either steel wool or a very fine file. I like the looks of it when it's polished and shiny but I'm not sure the best way to keep it that way. And it depends on the piece, some things would look okay with a patina, others I think look better polished. What I don't like is how so many of the jewelry makers on Etsy artificially add a patina. I guess I just like things to look "new" for awhile and then age gracefully!

Love your work. I agree. Letting a piece age on its own is a good thing. Artificial patina looks just like artificial patina. Thanks for sharing your work with us. It is always so inspiring to see what peoples imaginations can create.
