Halloween

My husband was reminiscing about Halloween and the pranks he and his friends would play. They would go around throwing hard corn on windows and soaping the windows and throwing acorns on tin roofs. A few outhouses would get turned over. At the state hospital, we had a big Halloween party every year. All the children of the employees would get into costumes. There were lots of games - the calk walk, bobbing for apples and, of course, costume contests for scariest and prettiest and best over-all costume.

We did the usual trick or treat around the neighboorhood and I remember stopping at one house and suddenly my trick or treat bag was very heavy. I carried that heavy bag for the rest of the night and imagine my surprise when I got home and found an extremely large potato in my bag! It must have weighed 3 lbs.

I love Halloween. Just trick or treatin' as a kid. We knew all the best houses to go to. We avoided the old dude who lived behind us cuz he was scarier than any ghost or goblin.
Now-a-days, I decorate almost as much for Halloween as I do for Christmas. I try not to have too many scary things. Don't want my grandkids afraid to visit Gram-gram in October.

We haven't seen any trick-or-treaters since 1999. First, we llived in town and trick-or-treating was not allowed, then we moved to the mountains. I think the No Trespassing sign has something to so with it. lol
