Chateau Elan

This summer we spent some time with our son who now lives in Atlanta. The organization he works for has their home office on a golf course and winery so we decided to take the tour and enjoy the tasting. Of course the tasting was the best part and we ended up buying several bottles!

If you appreciate reds I recommend their Scarlet 211. A big, full wine, with rich, red fruit characters, and robust spiciness. Carefully layered (oh oh there's that word again!) oak integrates smoothly with the fruit characters to provide a smooth, lingering finish to the palate. I'm saving my last bottle as a surprise to celebrate him coming home to visit this week-end.

Their American Port is exceptional and I'm not a sweet wine drinker. Sweet and high alcohol - flavors of maple, caramel, and chocolate make this a gold medal winner. It is an exquisite dessert wine and a wonderful complement to chocolate.

Here is the link. Hopefully some time soon I can get around to uploading my photos. The entrance is well manicured in a Disneyesque (my son's word) style.

How do you see yourself?

Let's say you meet a new friend and he or she happens to be blind. They ask you what you look like. Be as vivid as possible and describe yourself to the BEST of your ability!

party notes/#1

When I was younger, had a party one night. Had people playing bluegrass and country set up in the den. Had drums and electric guitars out on the porch, and people playing rock and roll out there. (used to run with a lot of music people) Friend of mine said we had 300 people at that party. I told him I didn't think so. Couldn't count the cops. When you're faced with the situation of cops coming to your party, always meet them at the edge of your yard and always, I repeat, always be respectful. I wish I had known that beforehand. A couple of days later I was trying to figure out who called the cops. I lived in the country at the end of a dead end road. It had to have been the cows across the street, because horses lived on the lot next to mine, and they were good neighhhhhbors.

Will McCain Be for Change and Pick Palin?

McCain could turn the kitchen tables (all 7) on Obama and pick a VP who symbolizes change, while Obama has the same old, tired Dem for VP.

I don't know much about Palin, but this could be the most exciting news of the entire campaign season.
